Not sure if this is really "done" but I think it is. Any suggestions on a better title are also welcome, along with general comments and critiques.

The Barefooter's Dilemma

Where once the grass grew green and fair
A road of pain and concrete steers
And feet once free to feel the air
In darkness rot throughout the years

With leather chains our toes we bind
Deforming feet and strides alike
For streets be to our feet unkind
Too rough and harsh for us to hike

And woe to those unshod instead
Who stride against the status quo
For though their feet do lightly tread
The shackled ones no mercy show

Insisting on their mindless rules
So lound they squeal in fear of glass
But suchly do they live as fools
And miss the feel of toes in grass

And so the earth calls to our soles
In subtle tones of grass and sand
But only he who barefoot strolls
Can ever truly understand
