View Full Version : White Widow Growing

I got myself some White Widow seed and I am going to grow them under two 3000 lumen florescent standard spectrum lights. I just finished germating and they're in the dirt now. I am going to use this organic fert/food called "Blood Meal." I should have 3 weeks of time where I don't have to use any thanks to good soil.
Is there anything special I have to know about growing White Widow?

BLOODMEAL IS A GOOD QUICK RELEASE
fast source of nitrogen, but it doesnt really give it what it needs for the long-run.
that white widow is going to want more than just bloodmeal.
although bloodmeal is o.k.,
try using other organics also, peruvian seabirdguano- batguano (both veg and bloom types} and wormcastings will help a bunch.
good luck

Have you ever tried dropping a few worms into the soil with your plant? I wonder if that would have any negative effect.

Plants love worms
I have my own wormbeds & make my own castings.
I find worms in the bottom of my growbags after harv. all the time.

I just grew some phenomenal widow from a greenhouse seed pheno that was some of the best weed ive ever came across. She does well even with low nutrients in soil as well as hydro. I used ocean forest mixed with some worm gold plus and had no problems whatsoever...averaged 3 oz a plant. hit me up if you have any questions

yeah i was going to ask about the worms, how do they benefit the plant? would they help get air to the roots, by them digging all the little tunnels they do?
tiedye420
04-04-2005, 07:54 PM
The worms come from eggs in my worm castings.
here is what you might want to get to make castings, im getting one soon as i harv.
http://www.greenfire.net/hot/T036.html
here are links for organic study
http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/170
Basically the worms make nutrients available to plants, by breaking down and eating the soil-earthworms or by eating kitchen waste-redworms.
besides all that, there are benificial microbes in the wormcastings, that also deliver nutes to the roots.
worms in the growbags at harvest means healthy soil.

Okay, here are some week two pics. 2 or 4 actually went into seedlings, so I only have 2 of them. After I dug them up to see if anything happened with the seeds of the failures, I realized I probably burried them too deep and they grew upside down. I need a better way for putting the things in the holes...slippery. (might I add that I know they are supposed to point a certain way, but I was kinda a fumble fingers that day.)
The small one is behind because when it first popped up, the seed didn't come off by itself, so I kinda helped it after a few days. They were both neck and neck at the very beginning.
Anyway, here are pics:

04-16-2005, 04:13 AM
Hmmm...I watered them (doing my best not to overwater) and now they're much more perky btw.
tiedye420
04-16-2005, 02:46 PM
they sure do bro.
Im glad you got it worked out.
They look like they are asking for bat guano though.
Some kinda nitrogen. Fert them babies.
eurohim
04-16-2005, 04:17 PM
Hmmm... I have Blood Meal which says it does the nitrogen thing. Will do!
edit: Okay I gave them some blood meal. I'm not sure if I did it right though. The box didn't have any detailed instructions. It just said to apply it and then water, so that's what I did. Do I have to mix this stuff with the soil? I just put it on the top. I'm assuming the watering is what makes it reach the roots... I feel kinda bad watering it two days in a row.
tiedye420
04-17-2005, 02:07 AM
actually it is better to fert when the soil is moist already. Then let it dry between waterings.Bloodmeal is a quick source of nitro. but will not last in the soil long.
use it probly once a month or every 6 weeks. find somehing more complete and your plants will be better off. use mollasses in your water 1 tbsp per gallon.
eurohim
04-17-2005, 03:50 AM
Hmmm... I also have these fertilizer sticks for tomatoes I can use. I was hoping I'd get a good 3 weeks before I had to do any fert. Oh, and good call, since I ferted this morning both plants grew an inch. I also have Miracle Grow. My whole idea with that is to add it at like 1/30th of what they tell me to water in a spray bottle when the plant gets huge so I can get nutrients directly on the lower leaves.
tiedye420
04-17-2005, 05:05 PM
niether one of those products will do.
Stick with the bloodmeal- get some mollasses,
Verify this here
http://www.cannabisworld.org/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80996
Good stuff and get
foxfarm growbig,,tigerbloom, and bigbloom.
The mollasses will help your plants get what they need from the soil- use it with half doses of the miracle grow until you can buy the foxfarm products.
If all else fails, and you cannot afford ferts- use miracle grow with mollasses as needed during veg, and use bigbloom when flowering.
Reason being the mollasses will help cheleate the unavailable nutrients, you wont have as much problems with chem taste- use less MG so no excess chems build up.
1/2 Strength might work out for you.
do not try using foiliar feed methods unless ferts are made for it.
good luck- hope this helps

Egads, that's a lot of stuff. How about I just use worm castings? Just using one this is much simpler in my mind if at all possible.

Fert Sticks means Over Ferting most of the Time!
If thats alot to go out and buy for instance, you can make compost tea or give it some miracle GLO.

worm castings will work wonders, bat guano is great too.You need to explore the organics forum at overgrow. Lots of people there to help.

i had that same thing on my plants.....but i just went on growing it and it didnt effect my plant, they still turned out nice.......my thinkin is either nutrient defficiency or water on the leaves causing burn
tiedye420
04-20-2005, 07:24 AM
nute def. will get much worse than that.
the bloodmeal sure greened em up.
You must have got water on the leaves while watering.
Them babies are looking good.
eurohim
04-20-2005, 04:34 PM
What's nute?
And yeah, since I started adding the blood meal they seem to be growing much faster. I have gotten water on the leaves before but I did my best to removed any droplets. I guess I must have missed a leave in the back.

04-20-2005, 05:09 PM
Nute is just an abreviation for nutrients. :)
I have a thread in the cannabliss cafe at overgrow :)
A bullshiting thread, but there is a great list of links for organic study someone posted on there. I have been reading them, and though some links are dead, the one's that are good make great reading.

is that aluminum foil if it is i reccomend that you find a better reflector because in a month or two that isnt goin to do shit for you....but any way your bottom leaves are ing to turn a yellowish greenish and then brown and eventually die off. its a normal thing. dont pull them off wait till they fall off or cut them at a 90 degree angle. but about those white widow seeds you up for selling a few or trading????
eurohim
05-03-2005, 02:53 AM
What kind of reflectors do you recommend? Is it even neccessary?
Sorry, not gonna sell the seeds. I'll buy what I need, but not distribute. It's a legal thing.

Okay, there is an update. The colors aren't really that drastic in difference, I just was too lazy to remove the light source above them. They're more like halfway between the bottom and middle layer. They are 2 months and 2 weeks old, 1 foot 8 inches and 1 foot 5 inches... and on a 24/0 lighting scheme. Also, they have been repotted to 12 inch diameter pots, and I started feeding them worm castings this week. I figure I'll let them get like a foot taller before I toss them into the flowering stage. Bigger the plant, bigger the gain, right? They look about right?
This is plant 1.
http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/data/500/17042plant2.JPG
And Here is plant 2

looking good but,
in the second pic the light looks a bit too close, your tips are curling because of it.
a flouro is best at 3 inches, two inches awayat the closest.
Im sick of growbags, lights, and bottle ferts. I just planted a bunch in organic mixes in my greenhouse- in 8' long x 2' wide trenches... There are hundreds of nightcrawlers invading the planters from the earth below! ;)
I'll hit em with budswell bloom someday in the fall. L.O.L.

Alrighty, and another thing. My dad keeps telling me that if I wanted to, I could smoke the leaves right now if I wanted to try it. How true is that? From what I've been led to believe, you can only smoke the buds, so you have to let it flower first, and that is only after the buds have been buds for a certain amount of time (which I need to look up again).
tiedye420
05-22-2005, 08:47 PM
keep them lights moving , i know two inches away is a pain when they grow that fast.
I smoke male leaf even, to see if it's worth breeding with.
You can smoke leaf, if cured right you can even make it taste decent. Buds rule though, buds are 10 times better at least.
most buds mature in 8 to 12 weeks....
