How to Smoke in Your Room and Not Get Caught

The Smell The smell is the easiest way to give away that you're smoking. Because it lingers..like hell. Anyways, when you smoke, make sure that the doors in your room are closed, and locked. And make sure that you don't have anything open that would stop the fast circulation of the air...like closets, or doors or anything. You might want to roll up a towel and put it in the crack under the door to keep smell going through that way. If you have any vents that go throughtout the house, you can close them, cover them, or something. I never did anything with mine though. Anyways, you're going to want to make a spoof. A spoof is a toilet paper roll with some fabric softener (the little good-smelling sheets that you put with your clothes in the dryer). You blow the smoke through one end, and have it go through a bunch of dryer sheets, and then it comes out the other end smelling good. Take one of these sheets and put it over one of the ends of the roll. Next, stuff crumpled up fabric softener sheets down in there.. Put as many as you want.. You'll find a good amount after a little while of trying it. And you might want to cover the sides of the toilet paper roll with duct tape or electrical tape..I don't really like the feel of the cardboard. You blow the smoke through this when you're done hitting the pipe, and it comes out of the other end smelling like fabric softener. Now, you don't want the smell to linger, so turn on your fan as fast as it'll go to circulate all of the air throughout the room..
If you were to do the same after smoking a bowl without using a spoof, the smell would stay in the room and just circulate around and around..believe me, I know.


The Noise
Well the noise you make when coughing can be a dead giveaway..if you're parents hear you hacking up a lung they'll probably come to see if you're alright. Try not to cough if possible. If you need to cough, make sure you have the spoof over your mouth..it muffles the sound (it muffles the sound better when you have electrical tape coating the outsides, though). You can also cough into a towel or a pillow or something.
The noise of the lighter (the little click sparking sound) can be really loud .. so you're going to want to use a candle. Light the candle with the lighter (this should be the only click sound you hear during the session). Keep the lit candle next to you while you're smoking.. when you want to relight the lighter, just press down the little button for the lighter gas, and it'll light. The 'Rents
Make sure your 'rents are asleep or getting ready to go to bed before you do this.. it makes it a lot less stressful on yourself .. because you can usually do it without getting caught.. If they knock at the door, just say you're getting dressed or something.. and hide everything real quick (don't move much, they hear it if you walk across the room..so find somewhere within arms reach). For example, if you're at a computer desk, you might want to hide something behind the monitor..or next to the desk, or whatever. They probably won't see it when they come in.


The Eyes
Well to get rid of the red eyes, use Visine. Plain and simple. I've tried generic brands..but they didn't work. I had to use Refresh eyedrops for a while, and they sucked horribily. They didn't make my eyes any whiter, they just made them more glazed over.. And they hurt after a while. Well I have been smoking since August.. and I've never gotten caught or accused or anything. But on 4/20 I told my mom I smoke (we were having a discussion about how it was National Pot Day) and I came out and told her I smoked. Wow dude, you do all of this when your parents go to bed? IF there in bed the lighter shouldnt matter. I wouldnt smoke in a circle using a candle. The wax could drip on your hands and burn you or drip into the bowl. The easiest thing to do is shut your door and open a window. When your done smoking spray some Axe or any other cologne

I dont get it. well i get the spoof but what should i smk out of because if u smk a bowl the smk comes out of the bowl after you take a hit and that would make it smell. so wut do u smk out of and how do u keep smk from coming out of it after u take a hit? thnx

You can basically smoke out of anything except a joint or a blunt, because those let off a LOT of smoke.

To minimize that kind of smoke, you can:



Put a small amount of weed in there (one hit) so when you're done with the hit, it won't burn anymore
Only light one section of the weed at a time
Use a bottle cap, the end of the lighter, or anything else to put out the cherry after you've hit it, and relight it for your next hit.

Yeah I used to do it after they were settled down for the night so they wouldn't come up in the middle of the session. Not necessarily while they were IN bed, but while they were just staying downstairs for the rest of the night (ya know, after everyone says goodnight and goes their seperate ways in the house). And my room is on top of theirs, and my mom told me once that she could hear EVERYTHING we say and stuff if she's down there (not in a mean way, just telling me so I don't do anything stupid) and she said "if you ever want to get away with anything, don't do it in your room http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif" but she still had no idea.

What do you mean about smoking in a circle? Like with a group of friends or something? Then just leave the candle on a table or in front of everyone so you all can reach it .. and I think we're thinking of different candles. I'm referring to one that catches the wax so it doesn't drip on the table or anything.. like the round baseball-sized ones that you can get.. or the ones in the little glass containers. But don't use emergency candles or straight candles because those will drip everywhere and that would not be fun. Oh I think you're thinking that I light the bowl with the candle, right? No, I'm using the candle to provide a flame so I can light the lighter, which I light the bowl with.

sounds kinda risky. I just go into my bathroom and smoke the whole place up with a towel under my door and the window open and shower on as hot as it can go so that steam comes out. Then i just let the whole bath room steam up when im done maybe spray a little of that air freshener while the shower is on. Then i hop in turn the water down a little so i can get clean. Then turn it back on hot hot when i get out and dry up. then the bathroom is really really hot becaue of all the steam. Then i jsut turn off the shower spray some more air softner. but what i found out was to take baby powder and throw it in the air. that stuff totally kills the smell of pot like 1 hand full of it and you will not smell pot. works for me and i dont trust the poofer thing. what happens if i make a mistake.

If I was to walk outside in the middle of the night my parents would ask where I'm going..and if you want to smoke out of a pipe or bong you might not be able to hide it very well..or pack the bowl if it's dark out. And the neighbors could be watching.

That's a good idea with the shower..I just never knew if it worked or not. I didn't want to risk it, ya know? And it would kind of suck having to shower every time you smoke.. I could light up whenever I want with this method http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

And at our house we have to take short(er) showers so we don't use up all of the hot water.

It takes some practice, but I'm able to hit my pipe without any extra smoke. All smoke is exhaled through the poofer (spoof, whatever you call it).

Right before you're done taking your hit put your thumb over the bowl making sure no smoke escapes, your thumb will extinguish the bowl. After a few seconds the bowl should be extinguished. The key is to keep slowly inhaling until you cover the bowl so that all the smoke is still drawn inside the pipe but you're not keeping the bowl burning. After the bowl is extinguished clear the pipe making sure no smoke remains.

Or, you could just get a one hitter if that seems like too much work for you. Either way, have fun!

I made the best one hitter ever out of a Dr grip pen and the metal pen tip. all i did was take the tube and emptied every thing out. i took the metal tip putthe small side inside it then super glued it to the tube. It hit liek a mother fucker omg i could pack like .3 in there and take it in one hit if i packed it tight omg that was my baby until i threw it out because i feared of being caught at the movies one time. damn i miss it. it was red

i go to my attic....theres low pressure in there so the air is blowing in. my parents never go up there, and they cant hear me go up there. when using a bowl, i just put my hand over it if its still smokin...i can do that cause i use massive clay tobacco pipes.....you can jam around an eigth in if you wanted. but the spoof thing, it does work. but in the summer i just set up a fan in my window and blow my hits into it.

We don't have any paper towel rolls in our house though..we just use napkins. to eliminate smell, have a face towel rolled up. when u finish a pipe hit, cover the pipe with the towel. then blow the smoke into the towel. get some incense going & you're good.

I just smoke in the shower, turn on the fan and let that steam carry the smoke away. That way, the sound of the water covers up the coughing and the hot water gives you an excuse to have red, puffy eyes.

i used to have to worry about getting caught all the time...

something i used to do, you may want to try... get a rubber hose tube from the hardware store, like the thickness of your thumb and two or three feet. open your window just a crack and push the tube out far enough so you blow smoke through it and all of it will go off into the outdoor atmosphere... essentially you get zero weed smoke in the room.

I just leave the window open and light some incense...sometimes I smoke a cigarette, but mom would be really pissed if she found out I was smoking in my room....I guess I could just tell her it was on my clothes. I usually smoke in the bathroom, though, and then spray some hairspray and perfume around. I don't smoke very often, though, so I don't go to extremes to cover it up.

I have only one suggestion to add, and it's one I'd like to know if it works for anyone else. Before you smoke, take a dose of cough medicine, whenever I do, I never cough while I'm smoking. I have to say that this is the probably the best way to smoke if you're gonna do it in your room. I've been doing it in my room for probably 13-14 months now, and have not been caught yet.

I smoke in my room pretty much every night for a few years now. I put a fan in my window, and now i actually have an excuse because its summer. Get a fan about 15 inches high and i also have a smaller one next to that. Spray colonge or air freshner in them so it acts like a spoof and all the smoke blown in it smells good because all of it is sucked into the fan.

Have both fans blowing out your window, just hit the blunt right behind the fans blowin out and use a spoof blowing out also. The fans will suck all of the smoke outside and into the air. This way theres no smoke in the room. Also have one of those gel candles lit that smell alot.Have a roof fan on too, circulating.

BTW, thats a great idea with the candle to light the lighter, never thought of that.

my parents use to be able to smell everything. My mom would come from the other side of the house if a match was lit for the smell of sulfer got to her. So I never smoked in my room. But I had a place outside I could sneek if I neede to. Fan in the window always works good and killing the bowl with your wet thumb works too so the burning stops. Thats a long tutorial about how to kill the smoke...if you really did all that it would be way too much.

I find my methods alot esier:

Outside--
my perents have thier Tv n shit downstairs in the basement so I wait for them to get settled in and then I say Im going to the back yard to sk8board. Then I look threw the window see if neones comin up then walk down the stairs and go under the deck and hit the bowl a couple times then go back to the window agian check and go back and hoot again, I repeat this until the bowl is done.

Inside--
Inside is pritty easy now, take something that does not smell strong, or nething, open a window and stand in the corner part of the window(if theres wind go with the wind when you exhale). I do this when my perents are downstairs watching TV and get away with it every time. Light the bowl, a lil before done hooting take the blinds and cover the bowl at the last second of your hoot, dont stop hooting until 1 second passes after you covered the bowl, let go of choke and then hold the smoke for a couple seconds,put you lips to the very corner of the windows screen and exhale slowly, making sure no smoke gets back in, when done the bowl give the room a lil spray of w/e you grabbed(Hair spray works great) just a lil spray or two so it doesent smell too strong. Then leave the window open for 5 mins, go back close it and your done, and home free!

I suppose I'll put my two cents in about smoking in my room.
Koko I do more or less the same thing you do.
I just smoke a bowl next to the open window, keep a fan on full speed next to the window.
After every hit I just cover the bowl with my hand so no smoke comes out, and obviously i exhale the smoke out the window. I used to keep a towel under the door but in my case it's not necessary cuz very little smoke comes out of the bowl and it's not strong enough to reach the door and leave the room, plus if it is nighttime and i have a light on inside the room and there is a towel under the door, someone on the outside can see that there is something intentionally covering the door which is suspicious. When you guys smoke in your room
wear a t-shirt and put a hoodie on top of it.
IF you have long hair, keep the hood on top of your head so your hair doesn't smell like smoke. After ur done smoking just take the hoodie off, theres no reason the t-shirt should smell like smoke. I think the reason most parents and stuff smell something is because the person smoking lets too much smoke out of the bowl. It takes some time to get used to. Also when ur covering the bowl, don't just cover the top, cover the tip where you inhale from and cover the hole on the side becuase smoke can come out of there too.
I probably forgot some stuff but whatever.
It's a good thing you posted this, cuz like someone else said, its probably gonna save some kids ass.

I'm not into homemade pipes but I know how to make a homemade bong. Just get a water bottle with a little bit of water in the bottom, and an empty pen tube with a bowl attached. You should be able to figure out the rest : )

Try a cough lozenge or something similar, if not, just take the bit of syrup with a chaser or something. It does taste like shit...:(

1) Take a pen with a metal tip. Open the pen and take everything out. Pull the back of it off or break it off. Then turn the metal tip upside-down so the smaller part is inside the pen tube. Either super-glue it in there or use some tape but only a little and there you go.. a simple pen hitter.

2) Take one of those rench bolt things and wash it out. Then get a small piece of screen and put it in the bolt thing to cover the big hole. Get a highlighter or pen and empty it out so you are left with only the tube. Jam the bolt in the pen or highlighter and you're set.

With both of these, melting the pen or highlighter around the bolt or pen tip works well to make it more air-tight. I've made several of both of them and although they both work fine, the highlighter/bolt one hits nicer. Also it doesn't get clogged as quickly and there is less chance of sucking the cherry through.

first, you should always cover the space under the door, and other such spaces. if not, and you open your window, all the changes in air pressure usually suck air in through your room, and out under teh door, pulling the scent

hold in one hand, your bong (caus u get more smoke from a bong you can load the biggest bowls but still be able to punch it all)

and in the other, your lighter (and candle if youre that way inclined)

hold the bong and lighter out the window, followed by your head

smoke


But yeh if your window is too small to stick your head out, or you are retarded, then all these ideas are great

In fact, if your using a bong, you dont have to lean out the window at all, that techniques jsut the safest. if you have a bong, just get right up to an open slot in the window and blow out.

I've never heard of Spoof, but i know what it is, i used to use one when i lived with my parents, works great, as for minimal smoke, get a metal bowl with a cap on it, or get a zepplin/bat(its shaped like a baseball bat, untwists you pack it with buds and twist it back together, im sure ya all know what im talkin about) the work great for minimal smoke, cuz they only stayed cherried when you hit it, and dont continue to burn afterwards, buy candles and insence for your room, my parents didnt think anything of it, i was a pyro though too, maybe they just thought i liked the fire

As for Homemade pipes.... wow... havent used one since i was in like HS, but you can always take some tinfoil.... roll it around a pen, pull the pen out, bend enough of the rolled tinfoil up to make a reasonable sized bowl, and spread open that end abit to make for a wider bowl, pack and hit..... or theres always the hand bong, put your hand in a fist, put the bud where your pointer finger and thumb make a hole, and suck from the bottom of your hand(this is if you have highly unsensitive hands), i say bong also, cuz you can fill you mouth with a little water and hit, but yea, im sure it dont taste too great. Also, the Potato/Apple pipe, carve a hole all the way through the apple or potato, and ta da! one hitter, or if your a little more creative yo can carve a bowl into it and make it a bowl instead of a one hitter

home made pipes...apples...carrots...carrots work well because they are not too moist. you can go to the hardware store and buy pieces of metal tubing to make a pipe and a screen if you want one. pieces are verrry cheeep

Make sure you blow out near the top of the window. Near the bottom all the cold air is rushing in (since cold air sinks), so if you blow down there, all the smoke will just come right back in. Near the top is where the hot air in your room is rushing outside (I'm assuming it's warmer inside because it's cold out where I live).

yeh i turn my heater on if im worried the smoke might come back in. ive learnt to tame the winds that come in m window (caus my window is on the 3rd floor and its above this sorta crevice in the artcitecture, so it gets very windy) and whenever i tame them i dont get cuahgt but when i dont tame them in the past is the only times ive got cought.

as a side note OMG i just checked m,y bank and ive got over 200 bucks in it, only a few days ago i had no money. woot im gonna go buy a 1/4 tomorrow

when my parents go to sleep im pretty coutious since they are sleeping in the room right next to mine. first i go get some cold water and this Ozium stuff that helps iwth the smell afterwords, and i have a blanket by me to cough in if i choke up...so whenever i take a hit i take my lighter and pit it against my chillum so it blocks the smoke so it doesnt come out and on the otehr side i have my thumb on the hole so smoke doesnt come out that way either, this works really well cuz iv never gotten cought even though my dad has walked in a couple times but i put my chillum down and the lighter in my shorts and he didnt smell it

To handle the coughing me and all my friends have been using sore throat spray, find it at walmart, or any(most pharmacies) You spray 3 or 4 sprays down your throat and its numb as hell for a good 30 minutes.

Hey I got another tip... Idk it its been mentioned as I haven't read all this huge ass thread yet... But for the spoofer, Don't even bother with a cardboard tube! Take a plastic 20 oz pop or water bottle, drink it dry, stuff it with a large quantity of those drier sheets(As many as you can pack in without making it tooo dense to breath through) Then go to the bottom of the bottle, and take a knife to cut several slits in the bottom( just stab the knife through the bottom of the bottle 6 times)

I think the bottle method is nice, cause the cardboard ones seemed to break easily! i also beleive the bigger bottle spoof does a better job.

This all sounds great but it does soundl ike sort of a pain to get the spoof together and the candle and shit. I prefer to just go out on my roof:) Nice and flat, can't be seen from my driveway or the street and on hte opposite side of the house and a different floor than my parents room:)

In my opinion I am the KING of smoking in my room undetected. I smoke all day long in my room with parents just in the other room. I dont like using a dryer sheet blower because it gives you a nasty taste. I just keep a BIG ASS fan blowing out my window all the time. I'll post a pic if anyone cares.... I just sit in my chair next to it and burn blunts and bong bowls all dizzay!!

I have been caught a few times though buts that just random people walking in.... theres no way you can smell it in the hall because the fan has to suck air through the cracks of the door to keep a steady flow if you know what i mean.

I find my methods alot esier:

Outside--
my perents have thier Tv n shit downstairs in the basement so I wait for them to get settled in and then I say Im going to the back yard to sk8board. Then I look threw the window see if neones comin up then walk down the stairs and go under the deck and hit the bowl a couple times then go back to the window agian check and go back and hoot again, I repeat this until the bowl is done.

Inside--
Inside is pritty easy now, take something that does not smell strong, or nething, open a window and stand in the corner part of the window(if theres wind go with the wind when you exhale). I do this when my perents are downstairs watching TV and get away with it every time. Light the bowl, a lil before done hooting take the blinds and cover the bowl at the last second of your hoot, dont stop hooting until 1 second passes after you covered the bowl, let go of choke and then hold the smoke for a couple seconds,put you lips to the very corner of the windows screen and exhale slowly, making sure no smoke gets back in, when done the bowl give the room a lil spray of w/e you grabbed(Hair spray works great) just a lil spray or two so it doesent smell too strong. How I smoke in my room. I turn on some music so they can't hear the lighter. I smoke. I spray some natural air freshener. I eat something for the smell on my breath cause I am hungry anyway. I close my door. It is quite easy. If you cough (which I hardly ever do) just say you got some water down your lungs. The smell and smoke goes away soon enough anyway.

I have found spoofs and candles/incense to be very very unesicary and not even work that well. Sometimes I even just spray a little listerine pocket breath mint spray shit in the air if I haven't smoked that much. It's not very hard y'all. Don't need that much prep or cover up as long as your parents don't barge in your room all the time.

Another good way to not get caught is whenever you leave your room hide everything very good because parents always search through your room no matter what you think. i know my mom would kill me if she found out but i dont even see why its such a big deal my dad smokes weed all day everyday n my house smells like a reefer factory so thats probably never get caught lol

My mum and brother is always bursting into my room, and my parents room is next door. They would catch me if If I did smoke in my room, and if I did try it I would be too paranoid to enjoy it anyway. All these little methods all sound good, but they seem to take the fun away of just being able to relax and smoke.

My methods include:

1. Closing my door and locking it (obviously :P!)
2. Put a towel under my door
3. Turn on my ceiling fan and desk fan facing the windows
4. Open both windows
5. Put a pillow over my floor vent
6. I usually smoke pipes in my room, but lately I've been getting away with a bubbler or small bong.
7. I then spray 1 shot of cologne between bowls, spreading them out through the room, even spraying it into the ceiling fan.

I also get paranoid sometimes haha especially with the lighter flick, I'm gonna try a candle now that I've read that haha but I usually just turn my tv up or put some music on. Oh and a spoof works EVERY time no matter what people say, the smell is gone when is goes through the fabric sheets!!! Also, people talking about what to do when the bowl is cherried, just put the pipe or whatever by the window, the smoke gets sucked out most times, or like I do put your pipe in between the window and screen.

Ive only smoked IN my house once, no one was home, i went in the bathroom turned on the hot shower, stood ON the toilet and held the pipe by the fan, then sprayed air freshener after. I could still smell it a little after.

(hint, put away EVERYTHING before you actually start to smoke. .... when I smoked in my house I left my greenery in my bathroom :o and that happened when i was thinking to myself "PUT EVERYTHING AWAY FIRST" the whole time)

Eye drops are amazing. I got visine too. All it says is Visine RED EYE RELIEF. like thats all its for. :D
It was like $7 for a bottle too... pretty small...

Cover up things i usually use are,
1) cologne/ axe
2) hand sanitizer (gets rid of smell the best)
3) gum/ mints
4) eye drops.

And, smoke from a fire is great to cover up smells, and red eyes. you basically dont even have to bother covering up. (Fire like wood if anyones confused...)
Fire smoke smells alot stronger, and you can say you got smoke in your eyes. :hat:

ehh... Not really. Id use regular incense.... Usually it covers up the smoke smell, and for probably MOST people, if their parents find them burning weed incense theyre gonna be like. "... what the fuck... YOU SMOKING WEED!?!?!?" even if its just incense.

Also screw that window idea, sometimes the wind actually comes in the window as in like the opposite of what you want to happen. :piggy:

I've got a few tricks up my sleeve for getting the smell out of my room after a bunning session.

Firstly, though, I should just say if I'm short on time or if my parents are in the house i tend to just smoke a few bowls leaning out the window. No smell and the night air is really relaxing :)

If I'm having a slightly heavier session with a few mates or something I try to insist on bong/pipe smoking to avoid the tobacco smell from joints. I close the door (I never really bother with putting a towel under it or whatever). I turn on all my lights and turn the heating up. Afterwards I put my desk fan on one side of the room pointing towards my AC unit. I then turn the AC on and leave it to do its thing for an hour minimum (2 hours is best). The theory is that the AC separates hot air from cold air, blows the cold air back into the room and blows the hot air out through the vent. Since the heating and all my lights were on, the majority of the smoke-filled air in my room is 'hot air'. The result is the AC blowing pretty much all the bad smelling stuff out though the vent. I also bought a carbon filter screen for my AC's intake. Its far from as effective as the carbon filters you get for grow rooms but I guess every little counts.

If we're smoking joints I tend to do the old trick of boiling a kettle with some vinegar in it before doing the AC trick. The foul smell of the vinegar initially covers the smell of weed/tobacco, and later neutralizes it. The AC takes care of the rest.

Before I bought my AC my tactic was just to open a window and keep a fan on whilst smoking a bowl. Worked just as well as the system I've got going now. But hey, it can't hurt to go a little more hi-tech :D

I also find, if you have to do a cover up job, that it's best to use a 'fresh linen' scented air freshener rather than deodorant or some other air freshener. If you use the 'fresh linen' one it just smells like you've just changed the sheets on your bed or something and might just save your ass.

good tips but tbh they'll prob smell it anyway ha. Blow out ALL the smoke out a window, don't let any linger in your room. cap the bowl with a quarter if it cherrys. if you get caught stay relaxed and hold your ground and tell them at least its not crack or meth or heroin.
