Pele, The Hawaiian Goddess of Fire, Vesta Fire Goddess, Brigid/Brigit/Brighid, Goddess of Fire, Agni God of Fire, Hephaestos Fire God, a Burning Bush.

This is my own personal revelation.

No matter what way you look at it, I truly believe fire is as close to "God" as we get to any physical proof of the existence of an all powerful entity. Fire, brings Death and destruction, but with that Fire, it changes the soil to bring new Life. It erupts from the Earth and creates land. It does everything that could be looked at, and is looked at, as a creator, a destructor and a saviour of life.

Nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon are the main nutrients needed for plant production and function. These nutrients are often limiting because they are not usually directly available to plants. Nitrogen is used to produce proteins and many other compounds. The large amount of nitrogen that exists in the atmosphere is not readily available. Plants cannot take up nitrogen unless it is in the form of nitrate. Fire makes these nutrients available for plant growth by releasing some of the fixed nitrogen from the atmosphere, back into the soil as nitrate. Fire aids in germination by depositing black ash after a green fire and provides a bed of these nutrients.

Don't forget the Zoroastrians, with their sacred fire (though they don't worship the fire, it's important as a symbol) and the Christians with their tongues of fire representing the Holy Spirit.

Still, any of the four elements fulfills your idea about proof for god. Landslide and earthquakes can kill, but all food comes from the ground. Wind can blow like crazy, knocking trees and buildings down, but we need air to breathe, and the wind blows seeds and silt around, refreshing soils and spreading life. Water, well, floods and tsunamis kill, but our need for it is obvious.

Not disagreeing with you though, just adding to it.

No, No totally agree too. Before the scientific revolution, there was only 4 considered elements in the scientific community, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.
So, maybe science and religion were'nt that far apart as we all make them out to be. Its always been science or religion. Why can't we see the divine in both? Science and Religion. (and yes I am a Dan Brown fan)

Many schools of occultism posit a 5th element, ether, which I suppose can be thought of as 'spirit'.

Also, in your initial post you mention Agni as Hindu or Vedic god of fire - that is true only in an outward sense. The 'fire' which Agni represents is equated with the human aspiration - which is said to be a flame that burns within, and flames up to the Divine consciousness. Something like the 'will to knowledge'.
