it wasnt started as a religion...from what i have learnt i dont believ it to be so much a religion as a huge learning process and a greater awareness of life...it gets kinda spooky though,,and extremely confrontational

the belief that you chose where you are in life in some former incarnation is what annoys me...that people who are poor and starving chose it and that people who are rich successful superstars chose that...just annoys the hell out of me and makes me think that the rich successful people are just trying to make themselves feel better about the world. I also don't like the alien conciousness part of it all, and the levels, that you climb up levels, and all the gobbedygook that goes with it...and the fact that it's founder was L.Ron Hubbard, man his science fiction books were bad enough but then he had to go and inflict this philosophy on us!!!
generally an annoying bunch of people I am afraid...but probaly ultimately harmless if they leave me alone!!

hehe they are not my beliefs! i am just learning! i learn about all things and then use bits of information that i like and discard what i dont!
stephaniesomewhere: it is not just scientology that suggests the theory we choose our circumstances....but some people might choose bad circumstances to prove they can beat it...maybe they can, maybe they cant..some hollywood stasrs weren't born rich u know!

yup...I know it's not just scientology that has this as one of their beliefs but we were talking about them particularly...this belief annoys me whatever religion/philosophy it appears in....I just don't like it....something about it feels wrong to me...lacking in compassion maybe...or lacking in desire to change and better the world...not sure exactly why but it just does...
:H
and his books just plain suck!!!

I don't really trust most celebrity-endorsed religions. I mean, it's not that they're automatically bad, but they always come off as being a fad. 'sides, my spirituality is part of me, not somethign someone can tell me to believe (or make me pay them to believe). I've read a fair bit about other religions, especially ones from past cultures (like the Ancient Egyptians) and ones that aren't too common on North America (Zoroastrianism etc).... what made sense to my brain and heart I've kept with me, and discarded the rest. that's just how I deal with it.

After each class, I would always have to sit through a 5 minute interview to see what I thought of it, how I was doing, etc. and I would say that the teacher I had was pissing me off, and I was bored to tears, etc.
One day I *cough*accidentally*cough* let it slip out that I was about to receive a windfall of $16 000 from the sale of a house. The next week, at my interview, they had 'concluded' that I needed to take a certain set of courses and then I would be way better off mentally, spiritually, etc. By coincidence, they added up to $16 000. When I asked why, they were very earnestly trying to convince me that it was becuz they wanted the best for me, which meant getting maximum benefit from my money, but I balked, walked, and talked about it to many many folks.

When I first went there they gave me a test to see what level of growth I was at, and the results were made into a line graph. I cheekily decided to answer the questions with what I thought they would want to hear rather than what I really felt.
The test was 200 questions, I think.
the graph came back as a straight line across the very top of the graph, with only one category, certainty, having a dip.
It was like I got 99% on it. But they explained how that wasn't really all that good, and I needed to take lots of courses. lol
Damn right I knew the answer......lol
It was fun while it lasted though.

The BlackGuardXIII Discount Warehouse Church of the Holy Profit
Welcome, and may Spirit bless you with success in all you do.
Here at DWCHP we believe in you. Your faith is none of our business. We have faith that you know enough to make up your own mind. So be you anything from an Animist to a Zarathustran, you are welcome here.
And if you join, you will find we have the lowest tithes, guaranteed. 20%?, no, 10%? no, 5% no, we only ask for 2.5%. And if you find lower tithes anywhere, we will beat their rate by 5%. And what do you get for your cold, hard cash donations? You would think that we would not be able to offer you very much for such a small sum. As an example, lets say you make $50 000 per year. At 20%, you'd be paying $10 000 every single year! Here, we demand only $1 250.00, which works out to not much more than $100 a month. Imagine what you could do with all that extra income you’d be saving...
And this is the best part, you still receive every single intangible spiritual blessing as you would from any other Church. We guarantee, you will not lose one single spiritual benefit. So what are you waiting for? Call today.
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, pay pal, precious metals, and virtually any solvent national currency. Come on, what have you got to lose? You won't regret it.

The two 'tin cans' wired to a sort of polygraph type machine that they interpret the needle movements while asking you questions? I couldn't afford it, I think it was like $60 a session, and I had already spent something like $300 on the one course, and 6 books needed for it. This was in 1988, so I would have to brush up on overts, engrams, clear, the OT levels, etc. but I do know that at the higher levels you learn about the alien origins of humanity, etc that go back millions of years or something.
They do actually teach a lot of good stuff, and have a successful drug detox system that I believe Kelsey Grammar used years ago. The closest religion to it, as far as philosophy goes, imho, back then, was Buddhism.

the part where you dont care what we believe - we ll why would we pay - but it is good..only it is great to learn from other religions just for a way of thinking..as long as u r not blindly following and dedicating your whole life to one narrow viewpoint, when you can open ur mind up to the possibility of everything and nothing at all.....so much more space up there to float around in!

I think in 88 they were only up to level 13 or so....and I am the same way. I just dont think its right to buy salvation.....If there is a god, I cant see him charging people to enter the pearly gates......and if he does, I aint payin.
If you are right about why we were left here..........then I am doing pretty darn good!

Why pay? You have to pay. We have the best rates, and the same intangible spiritual benefits as any other church....we'll pray for you, sing hymns, get you to memorize certain verses, and your Soul will not miss a single blessing even though you will be saving up to 87.5% on your tithes, compared to some churches! that is a huge savings.
If you do not achieve salvation, nirvana, bodisattva, or what ever with us, you get 80% of your money back* We need only

haha yeah..i dont believe in salvation...but i do believ in reincarnation because i believe we have to learn something here before we move on and if we do not learn it we have a lot of work ahead of us...the current reflection of the world means to many ppl arent learning their lessons.....
but i believ god to be the encompassment of everything all good and bad....non judgemental..for everything we think and feel god must think and feel....if there is to be such thing as unity..
BlackGuardXIII
03-14-2005, 09:21 AM
Personally, reincarnation is my choice too, as the most likely mechanism for spiritual progress.
What I don't have a clue about is what lessons I need focus on....and what I should not focus on......lol I guess independence could be one of them lol, since I seem to be mostly left to my own devices, and only get intervention when I really f up bad and Uriel or whoever has to save my sorry ass. The rest of the time I think they're watching from the top level of the bleechers, silently observing, and likely playing backgammon when I bore them.....
