The normal stuff such as "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", "Lost in Space" (for a while), "Rohan and Martin's Laugh-In", "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour".
But my favorite was "My Mother the Car". For some reason it lasted only 1 season. It was about a guy's (Jerry Van Dyke) mother-in-law being reincarnated into a 1928 Rickenbakker.

Anyway, I though of another one. THIS one will take a short explanation. It was during the heighth of the Trucker era. (Early 70's. during the CB radio craze!)
Movin On. It was about two truckers. Sonny, and Will. Merle Haggard did the theme song.

No one else on here *lived* for "Wonder Woman"?! :) It used to come on at 5pm every weekday afternoon on one of our local channels in TN, and I never missed it. The day they stopped airing it my mom broke it to me like a death in the family, and I was crushed. :&
I've enjoyed rewatching the series on DVD, and instead of finding it exciting like I did as a kid, I find it quite hysterical. Total camp. Absurd acting, bad effects, and silly plotlines. I think I love it even more.

does anyone remember MASK (not mash), it was a super-team type show where there had super-helmets and vehicles, it had a wicked themesong too
and what was that old cartoon where there were 3 guys; a land, water, and air specialist, who each had a suit that could be teleported around the globe and the suits had special attachments, from tank treads to weapons, etc?

Many television and movie celebrities and even politicians made cameo appearances on the Rowan & Martin's TV show. Even Richard Nixon appeared, voicing the well-known Laugh-In phrase, "Sock It To Me". Hubert Humphrey who was running against Nixon in the 1968 elections was also invited to appear but he refused.
Lillie Tomlin became so identified with her "ditsy" telephone-operater cast character that AT&T tried to hire her to do commercials for them. She refused at that time, but in later years she would reprise her role on commercials.
Dan Rowan was clean shaven during the first season. When the second season began, he had a mustache. A couple of seasons later, he added a beard and then later shaved it off again (but kept the mustache).
Laugh-in was the top-rated show on the air for its first two seasons. Ironically, the show's huge success made stars out of the most popular Laugh-In cast members and they left the show to pursue other opportunities. That led to the show's eventual demise. In fact, only 4 Laugh-In cast members remained on the show for its entire run ... Dick Martin, Dan Rowan, Ruth Buzzi and Gary Owens.
Many phrases on the TV show became commonly used in American culture. A foreigh delegate to the United Nations who thought they spoke English pretty well once asked, "I've heard this phrase, 'You bet your sweet bippy'. What's a bippy"? Other popular one-liners were "One ringy dingy, two ringy dingies ...", "Sock it to me", "Here comes da judge", "Verrrrry interesting", "Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls" and "Beautiful Downtown Burbank".
Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In replaced "The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (http://www.crazyabouttv.com/manfromuncle.html)" on NBC Monday nights from 8:00 to 9:00 PM.

10-17-2005, 10:18 PM
I said it was ahead of its time: :)
"Laugh-In Looks at the News," a parody of a network newscast (introduced by a completely un-news-like song and dance number) commenting on current events, "News of the Past" which lampooned historical events, and a segment on "News of the Future," predicting unlikely or bizarre future news stories to comic effect. (Rowan actually nailed some, mentioning "President Ronald Reagan" in a story from "1988, 20 years from now," eliciting laughter from the audience. Another prediction—that the Berlin Wall would be destroyed in 1989—likewise came true, although the followup gag that it would be "quickly replaced by a moat full of alligators" did not.) The news segment was reminiscent of NBC's earlier That Was The Week That Was and in turn was echoed a few years later by Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segments.

Erie, Indiana
All That (the classics...with Ask Ashley...*sigh*...)

i loved the monkees! and the original shining time station was my sister's fave, the one where ringo was the little conductor.
its weird to think that back then i had no idea who he was except the conductor who told stories at a train station!

I was too old to watch the show, but I remember it being on PBS. I also can't remember who replaced who, but George Carlin also had the gig of the conductor, at least for a while.

Some of those sound effects in Gumby sounded just like the video games that came a decade or more later. Sort of haunting. :)
There was a show called Mystery Science Theatre that spoofed movies. They even spoofed Gumby once. Gumby got in trouble for something and his angry father said, 'Gumby, I'm gonna glaze your ass!" MST was pretty good with sarcastic humor.
MadTV also did a parody on Gumby years ago. They went into book world to Huge Heffer's playboy mansion (Hugh Hefner :)) It was a pretty good sketch done in claymation, just like the original Gumby, but perverted as can be.

The Angry Beavers. I think I remember that one. I remember something about a game of chicken over 'Stupidly High Falls'. There was some really off-beat sense of humor in that cartoon.
