Just wondering, what's with the jokes about cults and everyone in them having new shoes, and Nike??? I'm confused.

I did a lot of research on cults in high school, I've always had an interest in them psychologically, wondering why they happen and how they work and what not. But I'd never want to join one!

But I'm still confused about the new shoes thing. :confused:

Heavens Gate cult, the one in San Diego where everyone killed themselves. They all had new Nike shoes as well as many being castrated.

I'm not really sure, they were all dressed the same and wearing Nikes. They were a kind of capitalist cult mostly made up of web designers and computer programmers.They were all found dead in their bunk beds.
