New Young Hippies

So we have a brand new forum. All the old threads are gone, and some of the old posters have too. When I first came to Hip Forums about three years ago, I enjoyed posting on Young Hippies. But over time, a lot more people came, and I found that quite a few of the threads became rather immature, and there was a lot of bitchiness. The same goes for Random Thoughts, but I guess nothing's going to stop that.

So I propose that we save all our bitchy comments and petty rivalrys for Random Thoughs and concentrate on making a wonderful new start here in Young Hippies. Although I didn't post much before on Young Hippies, I still popped in to keep up my moderating responsibilities. I'm not your moderator anymore, it looks like this new system's given me a promotion, and I have to keep my eye on all the forums now. But I'd really love to post more on this forum if we can build it into something really special. Something that can live up to its name. It is, afterall, a forum for young hippies like ourselves. We may be young, but let us not forget that we are hippies, and let us not forget our values of peace, love and unconditional respect for our fellow posters here.

I did see in Young Hippies that there was a lovely little community developing here, in a simillar way to the community that I have always tried to encourage in the UK Forum. I would love to see that community grow and flourish and become something that we can all be proud of. Let it no longer be ruined by a few people who can't get along....

I agree in the utmost. I've said before that I think part of the problem is that when we're just talking through a screen, it's difficult sometimes to remember the humanity behind the words. We see just the opinions, rather than the people with the opinions. I bet if we all could take a walk together, we'd get along fine. But this is what we have, and I hope we can all just put our best into this community.

Agreed. I didn't post here much before, but now that we have the new forums everyone seems to be nicer. Like you said, we should all use this fresh start as an opportunity to improve the forums!

Yeah I know what you mean about not seeing the person behind the screen. In a way, us hip forumers in the UK have been blessed by living on a small island. We all meet up quite often for various festivals, demonstrations, camps and gatherings, and so I have got to know many of them as some of my closest friends. Although I got the chance to meet AppleScruff not long ago when she was in the UK, I may never get to meet many of you from the other side of the pond, but I still find that you are all wonderful people with so many great ideas and inspirations. We have this brilliant opportunity for all of us here in Young Hippies to make a new start, together, and not divided, let us make the most of it....

For your information, the community that I'm a part of over here in the UK is nothing to do with cyber hugs, it's a real group of some of my closest friends. It might not be so easy to bring a country as big as America together in a community, but at least we can promote community values. And if you don't want to be a part of it, then simply don't. It's your choice. Young Hippies should, for once, be for the Young Hippies!

Consider yourself told you can't be one then. This is a hippy forum for hippies and like minded people to share their ideas and talk about the lifestyle and a friendly community environment. I agree, there is too much negativity floating around in the airwaves and across the seas to put up with. I come here to get my mind off of the crap I have to put up with my boss and anything else life throws at me. For a few minutes to a few hours while I'm on this board I feel that there is some like minded people out there who I can talk to as a community. True I get more of life offline, but coming here I experiance things that have either passed me or are jsut on the horizons. Having people in here who troll for fights or with bad attitudes just put a ripple in this virtual pond. My opinon: I don't care how old you are 13-116 If you have an opinion, you have the right to say it. But be smart and think about what you are going to say before you do. Because every action has a reaction. Be it someone else's opinion conflicting yours or possible banning.

So what i'm trying to say is this: be a jerk, but remember someone else can come along and make you the fool. Think before you speak.

We should get back on the streets, to let everybody know that there are still lots of people who don't want to live under the suppresion of the system, and who feel that there are other ways to deal with terrorism besides killing the people in the middle-east.
It is time that the love takes over the world once again, and finishes the job started in the sixties.
there is a lot more wrong right now than there used to be in the sixties, and now you don't see anyone protesting, or speaking up for what they believe in.
we should unite again and make Love take over the Power that is now in the possesion of George W. Bush and lots of other lying, hypocritical, killing people that are in control of our world nowadays and do anything for power.

I love many ppl and many things but the one thing i hate is that i did not get to live in the 60s/70s. and no matter how much i want to, will make no difference. the golden age of hippies has past and the only thing i can do is admire it. not to mention i missed woodstock. maybe one day i will find a place where peace and love reign once again. but until then, this forum will definently do.

I agree, but we should be proud to live now, though, too. Cause things are a lot harder for hippies these days, times are tougher, numbers are fewer (maybe not. probably lots of "closet-hippies", heh.), and our country isn't as free as it used to be. We gotta be positive about it. We're the younger, stronger, more durable era who has to put up with even more bullshit to live the way we want to live. As Bob Marley once sang,

Love I am surprised you ever got into a relationship with a marine of opposing views considering your obvious hippie leaning, particularly a marine, I guess that's all a part of your understanding nature, I ain't judging as i don't know him and I don't want to catergorize people by their jobs too heavily cos it doesn't always run like that... I just wonder who in the relationship is the most like to give a little on there beliefs for the sake of the others feelings... I have had similiar thoughts as Pepper about wanting to live in the 60's, but I am tending to feel that anything is possible at anytime if there are the people to create it... so maybe we all need to take positive action to ignite the fires that can spread, to create the vibrations to get those stones rolling once again... and maybe it's already happening, but we just are not looking properly because we are reminiscing in a rose tinted perspective of a bygone decade?? Just a passing thought...

Heroin and too much alcohol and the right wing facists sniping in the dark killed the 60's in my opinion.
