Hi everyone, I may or may not already have a problem with my babies. :(

They are about two and a half weeks and 3-4 inches high. However they seem to be leaning or falling over, like the stalks are not strong enough to support the weight of the leaves. Right now I have a toothpick stuck in the soil next to each of the plants to provide some support. (that doesnt even work too well tho because the plants are at least twice as tall as the toothpicks)

Any ideas? Is this a common problem? What can i continuously use as a support rod to my plants? Is it safe to use a wire hanger instead?

my guess is that the light is either too far away or just not bright enough. your plants need a stronger and/or closer light. they're probably somewhat pale too, this would be a clue to the conditions i mentioned. plus if they're that old and only 4 inches tall there may be some other probs too.

Light too far away/too weak. Add soil to bury the better part of the too tall & too thin stem. b1

Just out of curiosity...what would happen if this person DIDN'T move the lamp closer or get a stronger one?

same as to YOU when YOU don't eat your wheaties. you'll grow up to be spindley and under developed and won't be able to reproduce and wilt and wither away. b1
