Hi there,
I have read that March 1st is self injury awareness day in the US.
Does anybody know whether there's something like an interenational SIAD? (Or European or anything?)
And any ideas what one could do for that day?

Hm....I didn't know that there was an SIAD. That's great. Anyway, as far as what we could do, is there something that the country does, like people wear a certain color or something like that for SIAD? I'll do some research and some thought...anyone else have any ideas?

Well, so far I've only found wearing bracelets in certain colours but the colours vary. For example RYL (recoveryourlife.com) has bracelets in orange (SI/SI awareness), orange with one white bead (SIer trying to stop), and orange and white (recovered SIer), BUS (Bodies Under Siege) has orange and green (orange for SI and green for hope of recovery) if I remember correctly.
Other than that, I've only read about putting up posters and handing out leaflets, most of them advertising for a certain support website. I think the thing with leaflets and posters is not so bad, but I don't like the advertising part.
As for the bracelets, I always wear an orange one. ;)
One could of course write articles for school magazines, hang up posters and so on, but my problem with that is that I would have to come out of the closet with my SI which I absolutely can't imagine.

MY Advice? START a movement for it where YOU live! It's easy enough these days. Print up some Flyers. Plan a meeting with people who agree. I'm assuming the idea is to make SI's aware of why they are doing it? And make others aware?
