I creep into your dreams at night
and bring the shrieks which you aver;
slinking thus in dim starlight
I bang on pots and cause a stir.
There is a chance, however slight,
your visions will not pale and blur
and you'll be left with phantoms bright
of dancing waters, long impure.
In midnight, tossing, never sure
if white is black or black is white,
you never reach an ending, quite.
One thing you know, it isn't right
if every moment leads to her
and what those silver bells infer.

Love the last seven lines, they have that same quality I used to recognise in your work, something which makes me wonder of the inspiration behind your words. The first seven lines prompted a less than eloquent response of 'eh?' in me *sighs* I don't think I will ever learn. And you still write sonnets! I look forward to once again reading those, if you will continue to post.

"...phantoms bright of dancing waters long impure..." a very Dan moment!

I love you boy!

~* Have to agree with Firebell on this one. I think I get it, but its like two different feelings in one poem. *~

I’m glad gdhmomchild pulled this back up, since I’d missed it. What a great poem! I love the flow, how it begins with soft and smooth, and then seems to clamp down toward the end, which is just beautiful, and creates an image that will probably stick with me for a while. Wish you’d post more often, I’d love to read more of your work!
