He stood beneath her window
and he shook
she kissed another man
and so he looked

His life would take a turn
just like a book
he had a copper pan
much like the cook

He headed for the market
to buy a snack
her memory a monkey
on his back
he filled an ample basket
for his pack
then headed down
the icy silver track

Within the hour
he thawed his tired toes
and lost the evil numbness
of his nose

He steamed his lanky body
in the tub
and gave the aging thighs
a gentle rub

He flossed his teeth
and combed his greying hair
then sat upon his "Porcelina" chair

He ate a meal he sizzled in a hurry
and sauntered to the window
in a flurry

He put on his fuzzy slippers
and a robe
just another lonely reject
on the globe

His energy inside the tiny bed
he banged the feather pillow
with his head
somnambulism got the best of Ned
and in his Hermit mode
they found him dead
