kinda fucked up that its 'illegal' to go within our heads, to do whatever we want to our own bodies and minds.. the govt is basically telling us that we belong to them and that we arent allowed to 'change our software' and we cant handle making our own decisions and actions.. so they are going to think for us.. and if we disagree theres going to be hell.. and quite often that means sit in a tiny concrete room with bars as doors and windows.. thats what you get for operating yourself...

The reason why I do drugs, is well first they feel good, because if they didn't no matter how much insight or whatever, I know I wouldn't do them. But what I like about them is how they make me be more me, and they show me, more sides of myself, and bring everything out, and everything in.. I love that feeling of learning, and comprehending everything...
I love the attitude towards they gave me, the understanding, the experience and how they opened my mind.

I don't, but I used to. Some of it was "scientific curiosity." With tripping, which I did a couple hundred times, I think I was also trying to see how much acid I could do and if I could get as high as my first time, which I probably did several times, but it's hard to tell, because each one was different - mostly different visuals, although some were recurring. Strange things also seemed to synchronize themselves with my mental state, such as seeing a spider walk horizontally in front of my eyes in mid-air and having it confirmed that it was really there.

Cars in the 60's were a lot bigger and a lot trippier too. One model, a Comet I think, had slanted taillights that looked like a cat winking with the turn signal on. It was bizarre to see a car bend around the corner, too, just like in a cartoon. My car, a '61 Buick LeSabre, became known as "The Sponge." A six-foot guy could crash on the back seat completely stretched out.

fun, freedom of thought, freedom from the world/society, expanding thoughts, gaining knowledge of self/others/the world, learning the truth by leaving the box and looking at things from a new perspective, relaxation, for optimal enjoyment of life, humor, meeting new and different people, seeing new ways of life, learning what's real and important, learning how to better myself, my daily life, and my future.

I´m just curious:
Did your parents find out so far, that you do drugs? How did they react?
(Btw: It´s my opinion, that being catholic and going to church regularly is just a poor excuse to drink wine regularly and sniff the stoning odors of the sacrament...)

A couple of years ago I read a definition for addiction:
"You are addicted to a substance, when you get a benefit after consuming this substance you won´t get without the substance any more, or when your body won´t work without this substance any more."
O.K., in this case, I´m addicted to oxygen, because I won´t get my benefit (life!) without it, my body won´t work without it either.

Why not use drugs? Been around forever. God put them here didn't he? We only live one life. Now I don't believe in becoming a crack head, or a junkie. But to be able to do acid every once in while is really nice because you get to think about things you don't when your sober.
Realization is the key.

thank god there are people out there like "LOST CHORD".
more people have to realize that the drug laws are ultimately doing more than "protecting society from harmful substances". if the government really wanted to erradicate drugs then they would. they know more than appears to the public eye. its the drug war (especially in the united states) that is soo fucked up and crazy, its the government and ppl in positions of extreme power trying to regulate the substances that regular joes ( excuse the term) have access to. by them regulating this, its basically stopping us from thinking a certain way, which is probably what they want to avoid, ppl thinking in different perspectives than normal people, who could think of ways to uncover the many truths that they are hiding from us . oh , sorry, i meant to say "protecting" us. hahaha. sarcasm.
i do drugs for alot of other reasons previously mentioned. they do help you discover more about youself, your tendencies, capabilities, and i strongly believe that a healthy human brain needs to be exposed to different chemical compounds for a change of perspective. and in a more spiritual sense, a readjustment of what is reality. if i didnt do drugs i think i would probably get tripped out by being and feeling th same way all the time. kinda scary, eh? its tru. watch "waking life", great movie, very veryy intriguing.
and i will not defend drugs to say that they are not harmful. all substances are harmful, you just need to educate yourself and take necessary precautions, and most importantly, knwo yourself and how you react.
but really, most universal tendencies, say in science, nature, etc all follow similar patterns, i.e. fluctuations. to put it into this context, it can be said that all minds and brains need fluctuation of brain activity, it helps maintain healthy chemical balances. and by giving the example of drug abuse, proves my point. too many drugs too often is bad for you. but a healthy fluctuation is good. but of course depending on your body and mind. everyone is different and reacts differently to different drugs.

It really depends on the drug.
Stimulants
Cocaine/Amphetamines
Because they make me feel confident, alive, and real. Amphetamines keep me awake so I can experince life all day round without feeling tired or hungry. I love these drugs because of there ease to get on the streets, sadly alot of the drugs are dirty.
Downers
Alcohol/Heroine
When you're already feeling depressed, sad, and lonely, you listion to sad music so you feel like someones listioning to you and understands you. Well to a drug user its the same with this class of drugs, downers lift you up, out of your misery, and then sets you back down, alittle more sad than you were before.. Who knows, maybe I just like the rush?
THC
Cannabis, Hashish, Hash Oil, Oral Dishes
This is my key to life, I've smoked since I was 13 and I will continue to do so, unless it interferes with commitments, untill the day I die. I love this herb with a passion, its a special part of my life. It's helped me with my lower back pain problems.
So all in all I really just do drugs because I choose for them to be a part in my life, diffrent chemicals cause diffrent reactions. I like to pick and choose my favourites and continue to use them for pleasure, medicinal, and ease.

stimulants - dont do
opiates - dont do
bud - oh how i love budules, keeps me in a psychedelic thinking, such a soft drug, great with meditation, i can trip on it when combined with meditation.
mdma - did it for the love but its fake and i should be able to see it without the help.
shrooms - will be doing for my bday, cant wait to have the door blast open.
lsd - the stuff near me i doubt to be real so i dont do it
dmt - will do eventually once enough shroom experience
salvia - cant work out if i need it
alcohol - ok in moderation with some close friends

First of all, Like everyone is to see what each drug gives you.... you can call it curiosity.
Of course, you have to try all drugs at least once in a life time to see what its like , and y many peopel just get hooked on them and die ( ex, heroin, Cocke, alcohol, nicotine)
But the main side is to develop my intellectual side, marijuana gives u incredable intellectual view of things going around,i find it very strage but very interesting to view world through marijuana eyes- they catch even slightest things.

well i thought about that loooong and hard one time when i was really high. and i think i started and do them for 2 reasons. one is to explore the world around me and to be more aware of my surroundings and myself. To have those deeply spiritual experiences u can only get from tripping shrooms and acid. I realized i tripped b/c pot made me want more (thts y its a gateway drug). I started pot b/c of this girl that i was really head over heals for and she kept confusing me and so i did pot to get out of my life. And i continue to do so to get away. Ill do anything to get away. i hate my parents and getting away and gettin high makes it all melt away. It so bad cuz thats how people get fucked up in life

Drugs.. do you use them?? Why? ?
Evil.
No - not really;)
It's all about seeing what is the issue here. Why do people do anything beyond taking care of their survival needs?
Two reasons I'd say. First is the fact that drug use has a long history in a magical/spiritual context. Shamans and so on have been using psychoactive substances for millenia to achieve altered states of consciousness, a fact that has been gradually rediscovered since about the start of the 1960's. These things give a new and unique perspective on reality. That is a large part of the reason for the 'war on drugs' - the powers that be seek to keep people in a state of mind-control through media, popular religion etc, and anything that threatens to empower people to see how things really are for themselves is a threat.
Second, as someone already said, they can be fun.(strange how many people are suspicious of others having fun) It is natural to seek pleasure and enjoyment from life. If one can derive positive experiences from taking certain drugs without harming oneself or others, I can't really see the objection.
Many who berate drug use sanction alcohol - the 'legal drug' - and yet the ratioale for its use is exactly the same, and also it is addictive, causes violent behaviour, social problems, has major health implications etc.
In Britain, I can go out and buy enough whiskey to literally drink myself to death, but I can't leagally purchase enough cannabis for one spliff. This is insanity pure and simple.

I like being high. I like how drugs open doors in my mind and I can start asking more questions about life. Though I'm confused, I understand. I like the experience of doing drugs with my friends in new places, exploring new things. I feel more in touch with myself and with nature when I'm on drugs. I just realllly like them.

For me it's fairly simple (in regards to LSD/Shrooms - I lack any great desire to try anything else):
It appears to give me access to more of my thoughts and umm feelings is the correct wording I suppose. Granting more access to perception is a very appealing thing.
The feel good from it, which I've only felt good from it, is more of a bonus but is not my reason for the use of it. Laughing fits are a good thing though.
Lastly, it's fun.

yeah, having a fucked up hard troblesome family where your dad beats you, can kinda be that stem
i just have an emotional missing feeling where life is just shit and tedious, and i guess use it as an escape. but the trouble is it only makes everything worse, and worsens and makes you focus on why your runin. but then thats only on bad days... maybe thats just a depressd way of looking at things, maybe i take drugs for other reasons, sad but true, because i often dont like myself, think down on my self, feel uselss and miserable, or use drugs to try to be more normal and socially fit in. well thats just me. rather depressing view, though i feel open and miserable and sedated... so i dont mind
its often hard to get in touch and understand why's the real reason you do drugs. my hole family is screwd up in the head, so perhaps is genetic or family based.
thogh honeslt i see alto of it, people who use drugs are troubled somhow, for some reason. the perfect daughter who's happy and talks to her mum and dad and has a close relationship doesnt take drugs, cause there's no "bullshit" that makes them want to ruin or alter the happyness they allready have. they dont need anymore...or anything like that
Know what i mean?
ofcourse not all of you will agree, i guess im only seeing it out of my perspective.

i don't really do drugs anymore so i'll answer why i ever chose to do them and why i chose to quit.
i chose to use drugs well.. when i was younger because i was bored and trying to rebel against everything but once i got older i did drugs because i liked to experience different things and i enjoyed certain highs.
i chose to quit using drugs because i was losing alot of weight and not eating or going to work while using cocaine and i was turning into a real asshole. besides, i think at a certain age you kind of need to grow up and get your life in order.
but thats just my opinion.

Except for an expost facto rationalization of “scientific curiosity,” to which a friend gave the succinct assessment of “Bullshit!” I can say that it was in a way necessary that I do drugs—and that I eventually stop—out of rebellion against the prudish Republican mentality. I have always been a liberal and have always seen conservatism as a backward and ignorant philosophy, many decades before GWB came along and proved it for all to see. The leftist environment of 60's drug “ab”use turned me into a radical. I have since become a liberal during good times, but during Reagan and Bush scams, my werewolf tendencies take over and I once again begin ranting against the parasitic capitalist pigs who are fascist traitors to my country.

I will tell you why i do drugs! The only drugs I do are marijauna, acid, and soon to be shrooms. and i can tell you the reason i do them is this: Because drugs are like life... AND THEN SOME.
Living life without drugs (at least the ones aformentioned, most of the others i am against) is like eating a cake without frosting. Yeah, it tastes good, but wouldn't it be so much BETTER if you added some frosting? They have their side effects, but isn't it worth it in the end, if you become a better person having done drugs?

Are........do You Do The Drugs Or Do The Drugs Do You
reality is how you experience it. if you believe that drugs do good things for you then as far as your reality is concerned they do. sometimes we are in denial of the drug being bad for us. we may convince ourselves that something is good for us when really it is bad. these are our lessons to learn and our choices to make. you only know when you experience it for your self. reality is subjective and so is a psychedelic trip or high. it is what you make of it - so make it good! in most cases i think drugs do good things for us all.
prohibition is wrong - what we do onto ourselves is our own right!
there are certain things in life we can not control. like the come down from a coke high - no matter how many times i tried i could not avoid that unbearable feeling. so i dont use coke anymore. for some people the high is worth the come down, some people use other drugs to come down. whatever does it for ya. i personally feel that certain drugs are too destructive and shouldnt have a place in a healthy persons lifestyle. - alcohol, coke, heroin... but it is not my place to control what others can and can not do. i think all drugs should be legal. we can spend all the money we would save on education and awareness.

I have a question... if drugs were legal, regulated, priced fairly, wouldnt the whole addiction go away if they had constant supply of it, destroying the withdrawl? If drugs help stop doing other drugs and to moderate the use of them but are psychoactive is that not a beneficial medicine? I believe that humanity is simply scared of their own minds, because they do not know. Yet the drugs that have occcured naturally helped evolve the perspectives in humans, and now we have the knowledge from the ideas and perspectives that we can specify the effects and create them. LSD and other drugs that are fairly new in the timeline of humans and they have proven in this very short time that they change the way the mind works which in evolution change is what makes progress.
In general thats what i got to "believe" in.

Drugs knock down the barriers, make you see things clearly( although to those whop do not take drugs...this veiw seems most unclear) but once you feel it you know. It is a world less corrupted by symbol systems, and a way to get back to yourself

look, life's just like you're stuck with strangers in a really big room. there are several ways out of the room, and they are easy to get to and get through, BUT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S ON THE OUTSIDE! and that's fucking scary! so, you're stuck in this room for all your life, with a lot of people, you like some of them. isn't it your right to get a little place for yourself (with eventual friends), help other people if they need it (and you CAN help them), listen to your music, write, read, whatever, just have FUN? if some of the things you do might get you a one way ticket to the outside, so be it. we're all going there some time.

I was always intrigued by psychedelics from a very young age. I'm so into fantasy, sci-fi, and really anything of the imagination and the prospect of embarking on some sort of journey outside of this reality was just enthralling. When the opportunity stared me down cold in college I knew there was no denying it. I quit for a little bit because I was really doing it for the wrong reasons at the wrong time, but I'm looking forward to exploring myself and my mind once again very soon.

I use the drugs I use (which are strictly natural because I am a hippie) because I get great spiritual and person insights like never before. I relize things about the world and about my self that are good life-lessons to take along with me on the way to enlightenment.
