... I buy something that costs $13... I watch tv, and the value of anything is 13 this or 13 that... Why do you suppose that is? It's kinda trippy.

The reason that 13 is considered an unlucky number is because the first Good Friday (the day when Jesus Christ was killed) fell on Friday the 13th.
By the way, I hope you appreciate the irony of me posting in this thread :p

ah, the eternal optimist, thank you.
I've read up a bit on 13 - it's only unlucky in N. American culture, esp popularized by the Friday the 13th movies. In Europe, Friday the 13th and the number 13 is considered to be lucky...
It's a reoccuring number, like 12 apostles + Jesus making 13; I also read that in some asian countrys, they'd put out for luck an extra plate if there were an even number of people eating, because having an odd number of people at the table (esp 7 and 13) is considered lucky or prosporous for all who are eating, although I don't know how true that is.
There really hasn't been anything bad or unlucky happening to me, so maybe 13 is a good number for me, which is why it keeps popping up. If I get hit by that bus though, I'm kinda screwed.

A lucky number in Europe?
Then Germany doesn't belong to Europe I guess... ;) No, really, Friday the 13th is a day of bad luck here as well. And think of the German fairy tales (like Snow White) with the 13th witch that brings all the bad luck and evil stuff into the story...
I guess the number 13 means what you believe it does... If you expect something terrible to happen, you'll probably see bad luck everywhere, call it your lucky number and you'll find you're lucky... Maybe it has no meaning at all. :)

... I buy something that costs $13... I watch tv, and the value of anything is 13 this or 13 that... Why do you suppose that is? It's kinda trippy.i was reading an essay about synchronicity and apparently the two most common numbers for synchronicity are 23 and 17...which are the dates of mine and my brothers birthdays...
once you notice that something pops up...you look for it more i think...which is why you seem to notice it more and more once you've worked out the pattern...
i get it with 23...i'll look up at the clock and it will 6:23 or something...

that's probably it... I'm just more aware of 13 than other numbers...

there could be a reason that you are more aware of it tho...maybe it played some significance in your early life...or it may have some importance somewhere...or maybe it's just paranoia:p

That was my first thought. :)
I'm with Rain on 13 not being lucky in Europe. Not that I've an issues with the number my parents were married on 13th September and are still happily together.

well, numerologically speaking, 13 is just a higher vibration of a four....
check this groovy shit out:
first some background numerology stuff fo mo better understandin:
pythagoras, the mystic philosopher and father of mathematics taught that "evolution is the law of life; number is the law of the universe; unity is the law of god." basically, what he was teaching was the idea that everything in the universe runs in predictable, progressive cycles. this is the basic idea of numerology, that numbers represent universal principals through which the universe evolves. each number 1 - 9, carries a universal vibration which symbolizes a stage through which an idea/ event/ person must pass before it manifests. so everything in the universe is a result of the vibrations of these nine stages cycling over and over again since the beginning of time forever and ever! ISNT THAT LIKE SO COOL???
you can conveinently look up keywords for each vibration in about two seconds on the internet, but most websites leave out the groovy big picture (outlined above by yours truely) and dont explain the numbers as stages in a cycle.
(but whats even more groovy, is that the universe is so delightfully interconnected, that numerology corresponds perfectly with the tarot deck, and astrology which makes all three things easier to understand. so if youre learning one, learn them all! )
every number higher than nine, although it has its own unique vibration, still carries the vibration of one of the numbers 1 - 9. we can find out what that number is by adding togther the digits in the number. for example, if we want to find out what the root vibration of 25 is, we add 2 + 5 and find that it is 7, or 25/7. if the digits add to a number higher than 9, you reduce again by adding the numbers together again.
for example,if the number was 67.... 6 + 7 = 13: 1 + 3 = 4 and you could write it as 67/13/4
to keep myself from writing a Freaking Novel, and because you can look it up online, im not going to explain what every number in the cycle is all about. instead, im gunna skip right to the 13/4 thing that was my reason for typing my fingers off. ok.
13 is fucking rad. check it out: 1 (the vibration of the original life force) plus 3 (the vibration of expansive creative force) equals four (the foundation: earth) dig it? first grade math was never so cool.
twelve zodiac signs plus one sun is thirteen, 12 apostles plus one jesus is thirteen, the thirteeth tarot card is Death...
and yea, maybe jesus died on the thirteenth, but what were forgetting here is that he came back to life! the number thirteen is not just about death, but about regeneration and change! transformation! evolution. its so cool!
the lesson of the number is that we should not fear death, but realize that it is simultaneous with birth : change. the only constant.
so, when thirteen and four pop up, maybe we should just take it as a sign that change is happening and although it may not be easy or fun all the time, its an Evolving force, and that is very cool. for me it pops up all the time. i was even born on the fourth of the month of january, at thirteen degrees capricorn.
vibratin on down to four, four is the vibration of foundation. see, when one/yang and two/yin combine to make three/expansive+creative, the next step is formation. four is nature taking form. in the bible, the earth was formed on the fourth day. (in 1984, i was formed on the fourth day! :} no wonder four is my fav. number )
sorry about the intense length of this bit of propaganda, hope it was interesting to someone besides me :]
