Did anybody have the chance to meet Abbie Hoffman? I've been reading alot of his books lately, and was curious as to what he was like in person.

Peace :)

I saw him briefly when he spoke at my university. I think he and Jerry Rubin gave the anti-war movement a bad image. They made it easy for a lot of Americans to think of anti-war demonstrators as dirty, promiscuous, foul mouthed flag burners.

Never met- - was influenced big time -one of my hero sandwiches from the era .

We didn't end racism but we ended legal segregation.

We ended the idea that you could send half-a-million soldiers around the
world to fight a war that people do not support.

We ended the idea that women are second-class citizens.

We made the environment an issue that couldn't be avoided. The big battles that we won cannot be reversed. We were young, self-righteous, reckless, hypocritical, brave, silly, headstrong and scared half to death.

And we were right."

I'm sorry but the last person I would like to meet is Abbie Hoffman or his pal Rubin. They were the yippies they were the insigator. Instead of peace they preached hate and violance. Just look at what they did in chicago. Abbie Hoffman was not hippy ( imho ) He gave hippies a bad name.

Peace
