http://www.2goglobal.com/2GoChronicals/2%20Go%20Photos/Central%20America/tikal_kelly_monkey.JPGThe ego is a monkey catapulting throught he jungle:
Totaly facinated by the realm of the senses,
it swings from one desire to the next,
one conflict to the next,
one self centered idea to the next.
If you threaten it, it actually fears for it's life.
Let this monkey go.
Let the senses go.
Let the desires go.
Let conflicts go.
Let ideas go.
Let the friction of life and death go.
Just remain in the center, watching.
And then forget that you are there.
~Lao Tzu, from the book Hua Hu Ching

"The sage has the sun and the moon by his side. He grasps the universe under his arm. He blends everything into a harmonious whole, casts aside whatever is confused or obscured, and regards the humble as honorable. While the multitude toil, he seems to be stupid and non-discriminative. He blends the disparities of ten thousand years into one complete purity. All things are blended like this and mutually involve each other."
...I like him already

"Under the huge tree, the butterfly awoke."What a strange dream," he thought, "I don't know if I am a butterfly dreaming I was Chuang-Tzu or if I am Chuang-Tzu dreaming I am a butterfly." At that moment, Chuang-Tzu awoke from under the green willow and asked himself, "Am I Chuang-Tzu dreaming that I was a butterfly, or am I a butterfly who's dreaming that I am a man named Chuang-Tzu?"

Ê
I gather chrysanthemums at the eastern hedgerow
And silently gaze at the southern mountains.
The mountain air is beautiful in the sunset,
And the birds flocking together return home.
Among all these things is a real meaning,
Yet when I try to express it, I become lost in "no-words."

Last night for the first time ever Rich came on and read this thread with it's Chinese wisdom and we actually talked about philosophy...albiet a brief discussion, but there were attempts made at understanding, which to me is a step of great magnitude:)
I hope that happens more often.

:) :) :)
The world gets a little bigger.
Thoughts
When all thoughts
Are exhausted
I slip into the woods
And gather
A pile of shepherd's purse.
Like the little stream
Making its way
Through the mossy crevices
I, too, quietly
Turn clear and transparent.

Old Oriental adage:
The Sage does'nt talk, the Talented ones talk. The Stupid ones argue.
:) by not stretching words beyond their substantial worth, the sage avoids their deceptiveness.
