Well this is a confusing time for us all. We've been uprooted from our home of many years and thrown headfirst, some of us kicking, some of us screaming, some of us doing rather unspeakable things, into a whole new environment, full of flashing lights and wierd gadgets (see unspeakable things!) There are probably some new members about too, and others of us who have changed their names, and I think it's time for us all to introduce ourselves once more.

Please post once, and once only in this thread. In your post, please take a little time to write a tiny bit about yourself, maybe include a picture if you have one, and please include your MSN address if you can. This thread will also serve as the new MSN Index. Once you've posted, I shall add your MSN address to the list below. Have fun!

PS. Please do not post more than once in this thread. This should make it easier for new members to see who everyone is without it all becoming too confusing....

I'm Peace-Phoenix, though most of you probably know me by now as Sal. I've been around these forums for the past three years and have found a lovely home amongst the amazing people here in the UK community.

I'm a writer and a student. I'm currently taking a gap year before heading off to Cambridge University in October. Getting into there was one of my life goals. Another is to make a difference in this world, especially through my writing. I love to write poetry and prose. I've had a few poems published and am currently working on a satirical novel, although at present I seem to have a little writer's block.

Politically I'm very left-wing. I'm broadly pacifistic, and believe in equality for all peoples on this planet. I'm strongly opposed to the evils of capitalism and the encroaching menace of global corporations that are threatening all life on this planet. I'm a strong believer in human rights, universal freedoms, environmentalism and respect for our earth and all things on it.

I wouldn't say that I am opposed to social labelling as such, in terms of movements and consciousness and ideology, rather fashion labels. Although I'm resistant to those who would claim to be hippies on the basis of the clothes they wear, broadly I feel comfortable being described as one based on ideology. Largely though, I feel that such things do not matter so much as the goals we all strive for. A hippy by any other name would smell just as unwashed!

Musically I love a lot of 60's and 70's bands such as the Beatles, Pink Floyd and the Byrds as well as more modern artists such as Badly Drawn Boy, the Jeevas. My favourite band, live or on CD, though, would have the be the Levellers! Nothing beats them!

I love travelling. Going to festivals, demonstrations, gatherings, camps and the like. I don't, as such, see myself as a free spirit. There is much that still binds me to the material world, especially the establishment of my academic life. But I do not see this as a hinderance, rather an enrichment of ideas which I hope to use to set me free, and to help set the world free!

I am married to a British soldier but I am Canadian. I have lived in the UK for the past 10+ years. I currently live in Suffolk but I am returning to Canada soon. I have three kids. Tyler (19) Derek (10) and Justin (8). I also have two dogs. Blue Roan English Cocker Spaniels one boy & one girl. Here's the sad part their names are Samson & Delilah.

I hang out here and some of the personal forums once they are back. I will stick to this site until then as I don't want to jump from new to old all the time knowing full well the old ones will be going the way the rest have.

I'm Borut, I'm 14*turning 15* and I'm from Slovenia. (that's a country just near Italy; I live almost on the border line) I was invited to UK Forum by Erykah.
Well, I've got a passion for Englad and English language and English poetry. I want to study English language one day and move to UK.
I found these forums great to improve my language skills while having lots lots of fun and making new friendships, I've also learnt a lot. First joined forums in 2002! WOW! That's quite some time.
I'm also member of allpoetry and oldpoetry page. Hmm, I love poetry, can't write too good, though.
I want to change the world and I'm going to volunteer for people who're living worse life than I do, when I'm old enough.
When I'm older, I want to be a teacher and change a bit of the world through that, as well.
My favourite bands are: The Beatles, Rage Against The Machine and The Cranberries.
Some people might call me a hippy, but I don't think I would be one, don't want either, just love people on these forums.:)

I'm Rover-Lass and have been round here a long time, although I'm not quite as active as these other dudes round here. I'm a mad Levellers fan, and through them have bee introduced to hippy-dom. I play folk violin in open mic nights around Manchester. I love folk music (mainly modern folk, though), and rock and indie such as Beck, Yo La Tengo, Gomez, Queens of the Stone age...etc I even like a bit of metal. I'm studying English language and Literature at the University of Manchester and want to write full time. I've had a few things published, namely a few interviews with folk violinists, a serialised novel through several months of magazines and the odd poems. I've recently formed a creative writing society at uni. I'm an active member of Amnesty International and love festivals (will be at Glasters and Cambridge this year) and gigs. I'm also learnign poi but I';m rubbish, and can make hempo jewellery.

Anyways, nicer things, I love music, mainly 60s stuff. my name is Victoria (thats the first time i've actually told anyone not in my immediate family my real name) but everyone calls me Torz as some of you will remember.

i turned 20 in march, im from sunny Sheffield in South Yorkshire & i have a b/f called Dave from Doncaster who i have been lovingly aquainted with for just over 3 years. i work as a full time piercer & trainee tattooist which is really fun, i also do part time work for a fabrication company.

i'm a very out going person & consider myself open minded, i'm very intent on living life to the fullest, come on you only get one chance at it!

i'm just getting into politics, never really liked politics due to lack of understanding but realised that politics affects everything in my life wheather i like it or not & because of this i like to have my say & a clear understanding. i'm very much in the middle at the moment & dont support any particular party or movement.

i am a strong believer that all living things are equal & deserve much respect to live a full & happy life. i love the environment & would do anything to preserve & help nurture all that the natural world has left.

i cant say that i lable myself as been a hippie, i do consider myself as been a free-spirit but if i have to give myself a lable i'd rather it be 'an individual' as we all are. i'm in no way a follower of fashion as i have an individual style to go with my individual personality although i cant say that i dont buy designer lables because i do.

i'm not going to start listing all the music & movies that i like as there are far too many styles of music from many era's that i love & far too many styles of movies that i enjoy watching.

i absolutley love animals, i have a dog called pepper (well she's really my mum's,) but i used to have a dog called sash (she's a pittbull) but unfortunatley we had to give her to a friend as our cercumstances changed & i wanted her to have the happiest life possible. i do have a cat tho, he's called filo.

i'm starting to learn & matture alot more through the use of drugs (mainly xtc) and smoke pot quite regular, i love going to festivals & i'm always up for a laugh.

I'm Merlin, good old Merlin. Erm, I'd say I'm very much into mind expansion and, the mechanism of things within the universe, I'm very much into the psychedelia aspect of new age/hippy culture whatever you want to call it. I am also by and large a pacifist, but there are some aspects generally associated with hippy/new age culture which I don't follow. These include vegetarian/organic foods, horoscopes/tarot card reading and drug taking, which I have stopped altogether at the moment, although I can't rule out a return to the consumption of hallucinogenic mushrooms!!

I enjoy music and art a great deal. I mainly listen to early Pink Floyd, Syd Barret, Donovan, Incredible String Band and I also like The Beatles, Nirvana, (later) Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Placebo. I like some new age music, a bit of Celtic music, and some psychedelic electronica. I also really like psychedelic/new age/celtic art, and some of my favourite works of art include a picture of stonehenge at sunset, a surreal cyclone of multi-coloured spheres and a map of Middle Earth. I really like fantasy adventure movies, such as Merlin (see where the username came from?) and Lord Of The Rings.

I probably very well don't belong here, since I'm an American living in the United States. However, as you may or may not have seen in my previous thread ('American who desperately wants to move to the UK'), I've heard, and believe, that the UK is a terrific place! Beautiful land with beautiful people, and rich and diverse culture all around. :)

Anywho, my name is Ginger, but most call me Gin or Ginge. I first registered for this board about two days ago under the name 'BornInTheWrongGeneration'. But I felt it was lengthy, and kind of drab, so I went back to my simplictic nature and decided to use my real name. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and attend the University of New Mexico, majoring in Communications and minioring in Psychology. In fact, I will be getting my Bachelor's degree exactly one year from today! :) Then it's off to do Lord knows what. I do know that I plan to make it to the UK at some point in my life. Probably not too long after I graduate. But I need to do a lot of research first, as expected when one travels internationally.

As for interests, I enjoy the usual: movies, music (mostly music from the 60s), reading, and hanging out. I'm very much into intercultural affairs, and love learning other languages and embracing different lifestyles. I studied Spanish for 8 years, and now I'm just starting to learn Japanese (which is really fun!)

I never did the whole blurb about me before but seeing as the sun's shining today, I think I can manage a wee bit of info.

This coming summer sees me make it to 30 although, I'm sure I almost get ID'd in pubs, and I still want to tick the 16-24 box on forms. I've been a full-on veggie since I was 14 and vegetarianism ranks high in my personal morality, although, I'm not a preacher ;)

I grew up in Essex, hippied out, my dad did a runner (not 'cos of the hippy thing :rolleyes: ) my friends deserted me, and I went to live in London. After several years of 'I don't know what to do with my life' fretting, I decided to leave London, dump my belongings with my sister, and took a small rucksack with myself down to Glastonbury (the town not the festi), there I panicked again wondering if I'd done the right thing, chilled out and lived in a tent for a few months. That was 8 years ago. And I'm still here. And here is where I met the Dok, so here's good

After dossing around for most of my life, I finally got a job and am currently managing a bookshop, which is also good 'cos life without books sucks. I have to say tho', I hate working for wankers, so my plan is to open up my own shop (with the Dok) and to create a chilled, vibey space with many many plants and many many books!

I'm generally outgoing although, those of you that I met at Avebury may think otherwise, not feeling well at the time made it hard for me to communicate, although, I think the sheep understood me

I'm loathe to put a picture of myself here, but firstly, there's loads of me on the Dok's website so I can't really complain about that, and secondly, I think the tree carvings have much coolness about them. Oh, and I'm vain :D

Hello! My name was Zachariah on the old forums, I thought I'd change my name cuz greasytuesday is the one I normally use anyway.

I joined the forums, hmmm... maybe a year and a half ago? I really don't remember. I didn't visit them much at first but read em alot nowadays.

I'm 19, I live in a teeny tiny city called Ely, not far from Cambridge. Something I think is cool about Ely is if you look at the cover art of Division Bell by Pink Floyd, you will see a cathedral in the mouth of the big metal head. That is Ely Cathedral, and its literally down the end of my road!

Anyway, I'm doing a foundation year at Anglia Polytechnic Uni so I can go on to Music Tech. In fact, I'm supposed to be doing an assignment right now but FUCK! I've lost my notes!! Its due in tomorrow as well, but oh well.

I'm really in to music, any at all. Recently I've been listening to some African music, but I really love all kinds. As long as it has soul and feeling... cheesy thing to say maybe but thats what its all about.

Well I have been here a wee while now since coming back to the Uk after being away for 7 years. I study art and design at Leeds Met University and live on a narrowboat up in Yorkshire. Doesn't look like I will be finishing university as I will be going on the road again. For good. It is the only way of life for me and the best part of it is living it in its simplicity. The most important thing in people for me is to be able to wake up, smile and look forward to the rest of the day as if it something new and exciting that you have discovered for the first time. I am a person who needs others around to inspire and be inspired by. To share, laugh and cry with. Nowhere else have I found people that I can do that with than here. Well I'm Sarah... I'm 14, I'm one of the only Americans that hangs about here I bet. I live in Wisconsin, right next to the Miller Brewry! Awful smell really... Can't wait to get outta here...

I'm a little bit of a everything, I'm not exaclty what you could call a shy or soft spoken person. I play music of all kinds, with sax being my first passion, but also love playing bass, drums, keyboards, and a little bit of guitar. I have a great band called The Dream Police (Sal calls the band "Sarah's Bitches":p ) and we've been playing around a lot. I write the songs we us, I'm the leader, and it's just fantastic. I'll be sure to get you all tickets when we start off our world tour in London!!! ;)

I do write a lot... mainly songs, though. I've written a few stories, but I think with my sense of rhythm I'm much more inclined to write poetry in prose and stanzas that can be put into some sort of song. I've published a few of my songs and one of my short stories, and I'm working on making a cd with my band. Not to demo or anything, just so I can enjoy it when I can't play it, and so I can go up to all my friends and go "hey look I made a cd I'm gonna be famous HAHAHAH!!!!!!"

As for LISTENING to music, Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin 2 is blasting while we speak) is one of the greatest inspirations I've ever had. I love most 60's and 70's, but have also gotten into some bands like Nirvana and Coldplay... and some Sublime.

Personality wise... I'm loud, obnoxious... but I dont regard that as a bad thing. I love being on stage and being in the spotlight, but I think that just goes with being a sax player. Ask ANY sax player and they'll tell you the first rule of success in our world is to be loud, and arrogant. It's our rule. But I love reading poetry in quiet coffee houses and I love playing with just a guitar or bass or keyboard in cafés and such. It's my life, really, being the center of attention and music... Oh and the forums. I love it here, been around for about 2 years now.

Well I thought I may as well post here.

I'm Ben, 24, living in a place called Frome near Bath, there are plenty of people there with 6 knuckles (if you're from round here you know what I mean!) but thank god there are a few pretty decent people round here as well so I tend to spend my time going to parties, fixing and breaking computers and generally chilling out with good people. Sounds idyllic doesn't it!!

I like to think of myself as having a pretty broad musical taste, I'm just getting into the blues at the moment but I tend to be a bit more into the 'Bristol sound' as that's where I grew up. I'm quite into my films as well and tend to get a bit over opinionated about them so you have been warned!

I'm not exactly the furthest thing in the world from a hippy but a hippy I aint I'm afraid, I'll have to beg your indulgence on that point...

Hey people... i've only just registered again since everything changed (computer problems) I used to be conveyerbelt_drop_off but i didn't post here much so u prob wnt recognise the name anyway.

I'm pretty strange, not for any particular reason, i just find it amusing seeing how people respond when I attempt to explain the fourth dimension to them. Sometimes i think it would be easier having normal conversations, but I get kinda bored so I usually attempt to expand stranger's minds with my random thoughts... anyway... as long as you don't meet me on a random beach while i'm drunk of stoned you're pretty safe.

I'm most at home when I'm camping somewhere, which is why i'm really looking forward to being able to afford a tipi. I probably won't live permanently in it, but it'll be nice having somewhere to sit with friends etc in the back-garden. Another one of my dreams, which, unless people know me well enough, most think will never happen, is that I want to convert a double-decker bus, then travel in it. Hopefully i'll be able to run it on fat, so then I won't feel too guilty about the enviroment.

Anyway, the uk forum is kinda scary cause there's some people which seem to know each other really well, and seeing as i've never even had a msn messenger conversation with someone off here the idea of everyone meeting up in real life is kinda weird... anyway, maybe one day we'll all be traveling in my bus and living in tipis.

Love music, i play guitar, bass and saxomaphone (badly), an listen to loadsa different stuff, mainly rocky like Megadeth, One Minute Silence, but also blues and jazz and all sortsa cool stuff. I volunteer in an ahem "arts centre" doing things like technicals for live shows and cinema projection, but am currently wasting my life doing alevels (maths, chemistry, biology and physics), and i want to study medicine or nursing at uni. Before coming back to manchester, I spent nearly three years working on yackts and sailing ships travelling round europe and was skipper of an old traditional sailing ship for 6 months which we sailed down to spain for the summer.

I bought a very derelict house in Manchester and did it up last summer, now I live there and I have rooms to rent out cheap if anyone wants a cool place to live!

I'm also a student doing a Masters (I'm doing far too much stuff all at once!)

Anyway, I'm not a 'hippy', I just like genuinely nice people, and it just so happens that hippies are just that, as their basic belief system is one of peace and love- which I think is awesome :) I do love rainbow coloured things though!

I like all kinds of music, 60s (Janis Joplin <3), 70s punk (Black Flag, Germs, Dead Kennedys, Ramones), Nirvana, Hole, Chillis, Blondie, Sheryl Crow... I like all sorts!

I am originally from New Zealand and are just cruizing around the world checking out new places, until I feel content enough to stay. I am a freelance graphic designer and really love my job cause it challenges me and I get to satisfy my creative side every day.
I enjoy old and new music, and am currently listening to har mar superstar, cause he is so funky, and vega4.
I suffer from clinical depression which was diagnosed 5 years ago, and have it controlled by prescription medicine. Due to that, I don't do drugs of any kind, cause I can control my fun much better with alcohol and ciggies!
My favourite pastime is chilling, getting in the outdoors, walking, sleeping, and hanging with friends.

Music and plants are probably my main hobbies. Music's been my, passion I suppose, for as long as I can remember. Since I first popped The Beatles 'red album' into my Dad's LP player when I was about four! The plant interest probably came when I discovered that marijuana one. Ever since I've had a wonder for just how powerful and medically effective many can be.

Always playing guitar, learning piano and auto-harp and currently working toward making the safest most mind blowing drugs known :D
