My question is: what are the active chemicals in wild dagga? Also is this substance soluble in a polar solvent or a nonpolar solvent? I looked around and couldn't find this info. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Wild dagga (leonotis leonurus) is an african plant that is smoked to produce mild cannabis-like effects. Personally I smoked quite a bit and noticed nothing. Thats why I posted this question... i'm looking to extract it. Erowid.org is a good site for info on basically any drug you would wanna know about. I think the effects are caused by leonurine(?) which is an alkaloid. I don't wanna waste my time with an extraction if it won't work tho.....

Hey There! Believe me, it don't work! Another myth from 60/70s. I went thru this years ago. Grew a truck load and all I got was a bad cough. Forget it!

did you extract it or just smoke the plant? And did you just smoke the flower tops? I also found it to do nothing, but thought that it just wasn't potent enough. I'm gonna try an alkaloid extraction with some of it, before i dismiss it as a myth. Thanks

I tied it all, smoked tops...bottoms...flowers...dissolved some in alcohol...some in petroleum spirit and nothing. It don't even taste nice.
It looks pretty growing in the garden though.
A nice bit of bud is much more convenient and reliable !
Same comments apply to catnip, those wild marigold things, lettuce opium etc...all crap

I enjoy the effects of wild dagga on a regular basis. It is much milder than weed, but still a nice smoke. The flowers are the only part worth smoking though.
