I've been reading a copy of the Tao te Ching and man it is confusing, I understand the contradictions and how you must think of all the possible outcomes before you go about doing something. Is there more to it?

You understand the contradicts?
Very good if true, which contradictions and what is your understanding of them?

I haven't seen any contradictions...

The beauty of this text is that it is a guidance for meditation. Only after deep contemplation can one unlock it's mystery. And when you do, you still cannot express it, for that which can be named is not the name.

I love it because it is such a beautiful exposition of vedanta.

i have two copies. one roughly translated for when i am in the mood to sit down and try to absorb it all at one. the other is translated a little more thoroughly (instead of in verses like poems, it's in full sentences). on the backs of most of the pages are the translator's interpretations (which i don't find neccessary), so i cut out my favorite sections and put them around my room. sometimes i'll look at one, and it will instantly make complete and total sense experientially in the context of my life. the other book is more for understanding conceptually.
