I miss summer.

Summer was quite beautiful this year.

I was always outside warming my feet.

Or I was on a friend's porch watching the shadows and listening to Paul Simon and Don McLeon.

Or I was making redneck ice pops from orange juice.

Or I was making a whole pitcher of sun tea for myself alone.

It was quite a wonderful time, summer was.

And now, everything is dead.

All the trees are gnarled into spider-like creatures.

And the grass is burnt. But everything is cold.

And there's not even anything white to cover up the bleakness.
