View Full Version : What are your passions?

I'd like to know what your passions are. I believe there are many on the hipforums who are passionate among things, and they want to use those passions to help make the world a better place. My major passion is traveling. I love traveling to different places, and seeing what the world has to offer. I want to become a travel writer, and write about my observations of the world. Hopefully, we can use our passions to make changes.

Good question, made me think
Justice and freedom
My passion is for the release of man. For souls to be free, to break away the boundaries of the ego.
and justice for all-good song
justice, my passion that every man be perceived as being on one level. For the world to recognise our connection as one, to look at another and see nothing more than ourselves

My passion is living on the edge of reality.
Writing was once my passion too, and it probably will be once again as I come to the end of a series of long hard experiences. I have not written much in many years, but the living hell I have just been through has got to be one of the greatest works of lilterature the world has known.

I'm going through an extremely passionless phase right now. It's kind of nice really, nothing's a big deal, nothing's worth getting upset over. everything's just a note in a song.

I think it's a backlash from having gone to see my family last year for the first time in years. To them EVERYTHING'S a big deal. Every event is a life and death situation.
Drama
drama
drama
I walked away glad I'd gotten out of there when I did. Watching them worry themselves to death about every little thing every moment of the day...it was sad and funny at the same time.
It's like a house where all the steam pipes have broken--hot, hard to breath, no chance of any sunlight getting in.
Mine would be appreciation of anything beautiful.. n I don't just mean ladies :D.. but anything.. nature.. music.. words.. thought. I also try and participate to the best of my abilities in that creative process. Not that I claim to be good at it all.. I don't.. but I'm a firm believer that struggling in a creative process helps one to understand the beauty that others have captured in their works.

Writing, defineltly writing.
It is almost impossible to explain, but basically it's an obsessive compulsion.
Also animal rights, vegetarianism, learning/wisdom, compassion for all sentient beings.... and all those other great hippy ideas.

my passions are deffinetly skiing and music. Without 1 of the 2 daily, id go insane. I just love skiing becasue it gives me a chance to escape into a world, where nothing follows me from this world. All my problems go away and im just there. Its kind of a spirtual connection between you and the mountain. Where if you dont respect the mountain, itll kill you but if you respect it, itll give you the time of your life. And the adrenaline that comes with it, when you pulling like 360s off a 20ft cliff or straightlining down a 50 degree steep. Its like a drug, you just get addicted to it.
music, getting that groove that feels oh so good, jammin with people and communicating on this level that is so far beyond anything that you go through every day, its so amazing..oh i also love weird stuff like mysteries, dreams, telekinesis basically stuff you cant really explain, especially things from other cultures that are so different from anything youve seen...I also love traveling and collecting inrtuments from different places..

Hopefully, we can use our passions to make changes.
Indeed.
My passions are biology, psychology, and music, in just about that order.
I LOVE nature. Everything about it. Ultimately, I hope to bring knowledge of the natural world to others, so that it may be more appreciated and better cared for.
I have worked through a whole lot in my mind. As a result I am very psycho-analytical. I hope to be able to apply my efforts to the psychological issues of others, someday.
I love the way music is an abstract form of communication. I hope to use it to convey ideas and feelings that cannot be verbally expressed but must be presented as an experience.
:)

1. Doing impressions. I do great impressions of morgan freeman, tom brokaw, wolfman jack, james brown, Jay Leno, Arnold Schwarzenneger, Goofy, and more. And I do a killer british accent and Simon Colwell impression. I usually have my uncle in stitches.
2. Humor. I have a big sense of humor; sarcasm mostly, and humor surrounding quick comebacks and one liners. I love it.
3. Movies. They're a form of escape for me. Horror mostly; I love all movies and I watch at least four or five a day. Yes, you guessed it, I have no life. Lol.
4. Classic Rock. Zeppelin, The Who, The doors, The eagles, Pink floyd and more, it's my music of my soul. It reaches me, gives me tingles, makes me weep, makes me shiver. It's like a drug. I just shut my room in darkness, turn up the radio and fall into the world.
5. Love. I'm in love with love. I want to fall in love and get married some day. It's just a dream.
6. Comic books. I loved comic books since I was five. Superman especially. I've been a fan of his since god knows when.
7. Arguing and or debating. I love to argue with people and I love to debate about anything. Rock, movies, politics, it doesn't matter. It gives me a sheer thrill.
8. The sixties and seventies. Despite the really bad stuff that happened, I would have loved to be apart of these decades and the good stuff it had to offer. I love it.
9. Art. I love rennaisance art mostly, and basically anything that's beautiful; car detailing to website designs, it's all art.
10. Writing. I write poetry, fiction, plays and scripts, it's great. It's an excellent release for me and expressing myself. And I reflect a lot of my personality in the characters.
11. Animals. Dogs, cats, bears, it don't matter. I love em all.
12. Chocolate. Anything with chocolate, peanut butter, or combined makes me groan near orgasm. I love chocolate. I'm addicted to it.
13. Protesting and fighting for causes. I love to do this too. Civil rights, animal rights, gay rights, it's all relevant.
14. Monty Python. I love these guys. They're just so fucking funny.

My definite biggest passion is Music. Which follows parallel to love. Because music is really trying to tell you to love..and be loved. I just picked up Zeppelin..Early/Latter days (well re-picked it up). Wonderful Album! Achilles Last Stand! Listen to it. I love people to, I have a passion for analyzing my society I live in. Not in a bad way, but more an empathetic way. I love all of you dirty hippies!! Keep living all!

I like several things:
writing: poetry, stories (about fairies etc.), just expressing my feelings about people and the whole world
music: especially The Doors, Pink Floyd, Absynthe Minded, Him,... Music just has this healing effect on me :)
painting: I sometimes paint, but I also like the work of others (like going to a museum or an exhibition)
walk around in the forest (on my own or with (a) friend(s))
knowledge: it will never hurt you I guess plus I find it very attractive in men (it makes them soooo sexy  )

visiting the hip forum ;)

my passion is life. i love life. anything living. plants, flowers, animals, people everything. i love to see it alive and growing.
and another is things or people that don't fit in and dont care. i love to see the people who go to a black tie party wearing bright orange. or someone who goes to church with a purple mohawk...people just being themselves and making on apologies for it. sometimes purposely just to see people wriggle in there seats. i love how the just the mere sight of someone, how they look can make people so uncomfortable. ah! i love it!
Politics. And I don't mean your average "give peace a chance!" liberal, I mean seriously, that's my one true passion. Many have accused me of ONLY talking about politics, talking about it too much, etc. I really got some of my friends into it, though, my freshman year. I became a HUGE Dean supporter and would bring the latest in his campaign up during STEN in the morning. But I was definately political before then. It's been a couple years...
Other than politics... Paul Simon. ;)

for me i would have to say the one thing that motivates me is the kind of world i would prefer to live in.
it is not a world of symbolic personal gain at the price of real shaired and environmental loss. it is not a world of gratuitous conventionality, automobiles, austentation, aggressiveness or little green pieces of paper.
rather it is a world of nature, tecnology and creativity, harmoniously, sustainably and gratifyingly intigrated and balanced.
it is not a world without infrastructure but it is one in which hierarchies are not allowed to be self serving, and wherever coordination of group effort is actualy needed nonhierarchal methods are the prefered norm.
gratification not accumulation is the engine of its economic and creative shaired environmental enrichment is both the greatest gratification and the highest honor

My passion is music. Music is the rhythm of life. The beating of your heart after making love is music. Poetry is music. The sound of your soles walking on different terrains is music. And of course sounds of nature like the wind and rippling water, that is music. It is what brought my beloved and I together and is something I will always be able to rely on. If you would like to get in touch with your spiritual side, I highly reccomend renting culture CDs from your local library... Indian and African chant is excellent too. Give everything a try! I live by the way of the music.

My passion in life has always been music, I dont know where it comes from...but i play the drums, piano and guitar by ear...the music just sort of flows out of me.
But most of all, my passion is the beach, living..colour...surfing..the moments where you're like "damn...that was fucking sweet!"..i live for them.
I love people..and I learn so much from them..I find myself looking forward to the next day, for just waking up to be alive. When you talk about love...passion...art...the world, it makes that warm glow burn a little brighter...when you talk about it to people. Sure, there are the passionate issue's and problems in this world..but there are also some of the most beautiful things, so many people fail to consider..
so...i would encourage anyone on here, to go and take a little walk..get off of your geek boxes of monumental orgasmic wording..

My main passion is self sufficency. Luckily my husband shares this with me.
We believe to be self sufficent is to be AWARE.
Aware that all we take for granted can be gone in the blink of an eye...if you're dependent on the Goverment, the farmers, the utility companies, your job, or other people than you are at their mercy or their whim.
The more you learn to do for yourself the less you have to worry if the goverment shuts down, the price of heating goes up, the price and quality of food is screwed, the company you work for shuts down or your neighbors turn out to be jerks.
Do all you can to own a little land, grow your own food, heat with wood, use wind, solar and/or hydro power, carry no debt, find a way to make your own money, barter when possible, recycle, reuse, dig a well, build a compost pooper..etc.
Take care of the basics...be satisfied with little...everything else more than that is a feast.
Didn't mean to go on so...but well, I'm PASSIONATE about this..lol

I'm with teepi on the self-sufficient, subsistance living. I've been quite passionate about my land and being able to provide for my family's needs as independently as possible. We built our house ourselves, heat and cook with wood and provide our power needs with solar. We raise chickens and hunt for our meat and we grow as many vegies as possible. We own the land and house, not the bank.
To have the skills and ability to live totally self-sufficiently has been our lifes goal.
