Religious Codependency

I understand that you and so many people are sold on religion and antagonism against religion but I have to ask you...

Doesn't it make more sense to have faith and belief in your own mind (to be independent)then to have faith and belief in something outside of yourself like Religion (codependency)?

I think the founding fathers saw that independence is more important than codependency. Believe in yourself and stop the waisted energy of trying to warrant apologetics.

Take 3 months and use faith in your mind instead of God and watch the practical results. Faith in God only propogates more faith in God. Faith in yourself propogates confidence, accomplishment and happiness which religion cannot reward you with.

Atheists are just as codependent as religious folks. They are just depedent on the fight against religion because they are looking for the same thing religious sheep are looking for. At least religious people have enough sense to get the idea about faith..they just don't get that the whole bag is about faith in yourself.

Atheists need to crap or get off the philosophical pot or at least find crap with substance.

You presuppose far too much.

First, I would not say that religion does not propogate happiness. Quite the opposite really, it provides a sense of comfort and unity that does translate often times into happiness, confidence and success.

You say have faith in your mind. I do not understand this. Especially if faith is used in the context of believing something without sufficient evidence.

Perhaps some atheists are dependent on their arguement against God, but I would say that authentic atheists are simply disgusted with its effects on the human race.

I know people of all faiths that do have faith in their own minds. They believe cuz it is right for them to do so, from their own study and feelings.
If accepting the concepts laid down by a group that has come before is not using ones own mind, then no one can accept any written information and be what you call having faith in their own mind.
Sure, many follow blindly, but that is not a given about all followers of any faith, by a long way.

why cant happyness & religion, or happyness & atheism or happyness & philsophising go together? Too much of anything is never good, so yeah ofcourse too much religious involvement is bad.

What does it mean to have faith in your mind?
I took it to mean trusting yourself to make the right choice, as opposed to blindly accepting what others say is true. Being self confident enough to decide on your own, even if your conclusions are different than everyone around you.

mateo knows for sure what was meant, so I just thought I'd post what my take is.
