The Surgeon
My chest is too small and too low
My back, stomach, and thighs are too fat
My butt is too flat
It lacks anything to be appealing
My nose is not straight enough
My teeth are yellowing
Freckles and acne scars dot my sagging cheeks
And my lips should be fuller and darker
But we can fix it all, right?
Thank you doctor
Thank you for helping me to see all the things that are wrong with me
For without you
I may have loved myself

I wrote that after watching "The Swan":)

Cool presentation. At first I wasn't liking it, thought you were going to hop the 'woe is me, pity me' bandwagon, but I liked how you turned it around, added a bit of ironic spice and personalized it. Nice work :)

:)Thank you. I think I remember seeing a girl on a surgery show saying "I didn't realize there was so much wrong with me!" And I cried. Then I remembered it and it made me very rant-ful and angry and bitter for an hour or so...

Which plastic representation of beauty one chooses is not limited to the anatomical structure of their body. Some choose to portray an equally insincere facade of emotional contentment, or intellectual eloquence.

There are purposes and purposes. Such is the detriment to the action of choosing. And yet, to rejoice in the Transformation itself, without regard to its consequence! This is a great key to the Heart of Ye. Would it that I could unlock every One and behold its glory! O' alien Star, would that I could be eternally flooded with thy Light!

Well, if that's your pic accompanying your poem you don't have anything to worry about! But your lines do make a poignant point. We all take ourselves a little too much for granted. Beauty doesn't have a single face.

Haha aww thanks Kidder*blushing*.
And all of you, I agree. Those are some pretty long words, there, Osirus, but I get what you're saying. Beauty is now drawn down to a single thing, now it's all about how you can fix everything that's "not perfect". Well, I think its absolutely disgusting. Don't screw around with nature!
