Man this year sure flew past!!
Hard to believe it's almost over, yet again...
The past few years us kids have decided to have our own Thanksgiving festivities and all the grownups go up to my grandmom's in Baltimore.
We used to have it at my uncle Jim's since I was waaay little and it was always a hoot. My dad's side of the family is a trip and every one drinks so it was always loud and very entertaining. Uncle Jim died a few years back and it was just never the same...so us kids (my brother and sister and our families) decided to start our own traditions.
It's become really fun now and I am really looking foreward to it this year. We have been talking about frying a turkey for years now and this year it's finaly gonna happen:) My sister~in~law is on the bird, I am making crab and cheese stuffed jalepeno poppers and challah bread and Buk is making her legendary cheesecake...we never eat so good:D
I love it when my family gets together because we forget our everyday lives and for a day, or an evening we immerse ourselves in blissful Now of each other and for a few hours everything is fine with the world.
So what have y'all got goin' on? Do you love Turkey day or is it just the first in a string of horrible commercial festivites...?

oh, so Thanksgiving day, huh? well, there will be some kinda big dinner at someone's house, I'm guessing my Sister-In-Law's house. I dunno, it's nice but the next day officially marks the first day of holiday madness. I really strongly dis-like ninety nine percent of the holidays, tho' that one percent is sweet while it lasts....
peace to you and yor'n! (yor'n is Southern fer "all yer kin-folk.")

We like to hole up for the Holiday madness...watch movies and poke conch. What a nice loong weekend:)
It makes me so sad to see all the people that buy into the need to buy so much crap. They get so stressed out and the important parts like enjoying the people you love gets forgotten in the maddness.
My mom has been shopping like a fiend...and I just have to step aside and let her go. I keep reminding her I thought we were doing 'Homemade christmas' and how much I loved the driftwood and antique crystal thing she made me last year, but she is off and running again this year to the big cities around here looking for 'stuff'...
How old is your kid blackie? Do you guys ever volunteer in the free turkey dinner places? I bet alot more people would really appriciate your cooking:)

I have Thanksgiving off from work so I'm gonna spend it with my ex-husband and most of the kids. Not sure if my 19 yr old has to work yet.

Are holiday shoppers worse than regular ones Gil?
I was at the grocery store for my weekly supply run and the energy is different now. People work themselves into a frenzy..over a day. So many fears and so many expectations to live up to I don't know how they do it all. I am in awe of how much people juggle now days.
Thanks I like my seat here by the tree, waiting for it all to come tumbling down.
My mom was out shopping again today...she's outta control. She'll be up at 3:00AM Black Friday to get to the outlets before the lines get too long.
I wish you could come down Marie:) I love it when you visit!! You have good family too though and i am so glad that you have Holly and her family to hang out with. When we walked the bay bridge she was really nice.
I went and got all the supplies today so the next few days I'll spend cooking. *blissful grin*I wish they made a candle that smelled like Grilled steak and one that smells like Thanksgiving cooking Mmmmmmmm!
Whoever wants cookies pm me your address:)
Love you guys!!

what? am I the shopper guage around here?
well, since you asked me; yes! holiday shoppers are the worst! oh, unless you meant in my business, then for the most part it's all the same. there are always a few people who show up two days before thanksgiving and whant same day delivery on a dining set! why do they wait until the last possible minute to look? if they want instant delivery of crappy furniture there's always rooms-to-go! but I won't sell crap. and I can't crap you out a dining table by wednesday, sorry. good things come to those who wait, and plan ahead.
I hate holiday shopping! it's mindless consumerism at it's worst!!!! people are so programmed! and by whom?
who programmed the masses to buy gifts for christmas? why is santa now more the emphasis, generally, than Jesus? those of you who know me have heard this in years past, but think about it: "Santa" is "Satan" with one letter re-arranged.

It's no coincidence that little kids are terrified of Santa...his laugh alone is evil!
That's one jovialy deranged mofo!
(..and yes Gil you are our pulse on Consumer America:X )

I knew Consumer Santa was evil :D
I've considered being one a few times....I'll wait a few years tough.
C'mmere little girl, come sit on Santa's lap.......
But I did see the real one one day, coming out of a hardware store dressed like everyone else, he winked.
You can send me some cookies, Kim. All the ones M made went to other people....

You know I will greg:) I still have the box you sent me with the awesome sail canoe book. My mom used to do that to us all the time. We never got the good food, lol. Now I make sure there is always some for Rich and the kids when I make stuff...they will never have to know that pain! *feigns dramatic flair*
I can't wait to get started...well I have to get offa here first:p
Today I am making Jerky, Cinnamon rolls, bread(not sure what kind yet...Rosemary methinks my mom just gave me a rosemary bonsai kinda tree heeh now I'm gonna cook it!) Cheesecake, russian tea cakes, chocolate/toffee and oatmeal cookies, Greenbean casserole Kim style, vegi trays and what not. The girls are gonna help with the pies when they get home from school.
I'll go to the post office Friday while everyone else is out shopping:)
Love you guys!

Yesterday i had this thought, but it was just a fleeting one...our Thanksgivings are always perfect, how long can that kind of luck run?
I dismissed it because I cannot see the future...then this morning when I called to warn my brother and sister inlaw to dress for very warm conditions in my house and my brother informed me that he was in the hospital and Sheri was gettng ready to go into surgery in about an hour.
They have been trying to have a baby for about four years now and each time Sheri has some complication. This time it is another ectopic pregnancy.
If you all can please think of Sheri and hopefully there will be no further complications and everything will be fine and they will let her come home tomorrow.

I am off to her house to get the turkey and all the stuff She was going to make but it's just gonna be my family and my sister now since Mike took the kids up to Pa.
Wow. I'm still in shock....it's after twelve, time to start drinking.

:) Thanks Greg.
Everything went fine and she's resting now.
It was so sad, my brother said they had known she was preggers for six weeks and were going in for the sonogram this morning so they could tell everyone at dinner today.
This happened last year too around this time. She cried for three days...I wish I could make it better.
Today was a somber day but we were glad that Sheri is fine.
The food was amazing.
We had fun frying the turkey:) and the sun came out eventually and the clouds were really interesting...
It really neat in the woods now everything is mostly grey and then there are these trees that are changing colors and loosing their leaves later than all the other ones and are so vividly colored in yellows and reds...and the stark contrast between them and the rest of the forest is breathtaking.
I just stand in awe.

*decides to take camera out tomorrow:) *
I hope you all had a great day and got in some good fellowship.
Much Love:)
