Don't mean to sound like 'one of them' but here's my advice

There are a lot of ideas going around for new forums...some of them great, and some of them not so great...

The best way to go about getting a new forum that doesn't have tons of people screaming for it already (say 25+ ACTIVE users) is to create it as a new Personal Forum. The benefit of that is that you will get to moderate it! Personal forums can be linked to the public forums to help generate membership, and you can advertise them (not too big please) in your signatures.

If you personal forum gets busy, and some of the will..you can ask to have it made a Public forum, and you will probally get to remain moderator of it.

The down side of a Public forum over a personal forum is that moderators are more likely to step in and well, moderate, it if people complain then if its a peronal member forum.

i have thought of just this with a single parent forum. the reason i made the poll was i figured i would present skip or you the results so you would see the interest already. glad to see the method you mentioned would work cause thats my plan b.
