How long has the Earth been round?

In the bible it says that the earth was round, but this was'nt discovered until the explorers set out mapping the Earth.

Actually its elliptical, and its a myth that people (at least intelligent people) ever thought it was round...or those people who never saw the sea - if you look, you can see the curve of the earth on a long horizon.

Pretty obvious stuff for early man to work out really :rolleyes:

heck no! I'm not havin' any o' that! any fool can see the world is flat! there's jest one thing I haven't worked out yet: at night when the sun goes down in the west, how does it get back to the east without anyone seeing it go around the edge of the world? does it shut out it's light and sneak around? what's the real truth to this matter?
