13. I live for persecution!
12. I'm a night person at heart.
11. We respect our elders...and alders, and willows and oaks.
10. I just love explaining that a pentagram is NOT evil.
9. We do more after midnight than most people do all day!
8. Being burned at the stake is a great way to roast marshmallows.
7. We can talk to Elvis (and he IS dead).
6. You live, you learn, you die, you forget. Then you comeback...
5. Double the deities, double the fun!
4. We get more holidays.
3. Brooms get great mileage.

All just in my opinion.. correct me if I'm wrong..:
13. it's meant to be funny/sarcastic and I don't think minorities 'live for persecution' out of their own free will.. since it's not a choice to be a minority for them, it is however a choice to get involved in witchcraft.
12. true
11.never claimed to be exclusive
10. because that makes 'us' feel 'special' since the majority of (christian based) people think the pentagram is evil.. but to us it's not.. so telling about it shows more knowledge/nuance
9. again.. it's meant to be funnnny.. but a lot of rituals are done at night
8. and again.. don't take things so seriously!
7. here you actually seem to make a joke! :p
6. it's a saying for/of everyone who believes in reincarnation.. so yes, also buddhists
5. First.. there is a distinction between 'wiccan' and 'witch'.. second.. there are two major gods.. the male and the female.. a lot see them only as the personification of the two balanced forces in nature. Since we are humans we think of them in a human form to make it easier to comprehend.. since we usually think of opposites as 'male/female' we think of them as a God and a Goddess. Besides that, a lot are interested in and/or believe in other (sub)Gods as well.. often those of Celtic/Noric/etc origin
4. :)
3. They wouldn't let me take the broom into the airplane, so haven't had a chance yet to fly with my broom!
2. That's meant more in general.. as 'paganism' goes way back, the roots are pretty old (note: I'm talking about basic paganism here.. not wicca, which is very young, although the fluffs like to pretend it's very old.. it does have a lot in common though with general paganism so they do share old roots!)..
1. It's a pagan holiday, you can read about it here: http://www.asiya.org/sabbats/beltane.html

*13. so do goths, teens, and minoritys
It's sign of dedication to put up with all that. Not for that fainthearted/conformists.
12. most young people are
Not all Wiccans are young
11. so do hippys
Is that so? ... well anyone can revre nature.
10. why does that matter?
As from being outright slander it doesn't make us look good. Having to defend ourselves gets very boring.
9. like what?
Rituals, spells and such
*8. This isn't the 18th century
No kidding!
*7. Elvis IS NOT DEAD! the aliens got em.
LMAO
6. Isn't that a buddhist saying?
Not exactly, though it is a basic principle of many eastern religions.
5. i thought wiccans had way more than jus 2 gods
Nope just the God and Goddess. They come in many guises just to confuse you, we can pick favourites or appropriate ones for the occasion.
4. that's true
Maybe, and most are conviently timed too.
*3. Have you ever really flown on a broom? without hillucinating?
LMAO no because that's impossible. The whole idea is just a warped rumor.
2. no.. u weren't here first.... your simply copying the people that were here first
Touche, Wiccan is an interpretation of ancient pagan traditions (which is the oldest form of religion). That doesn't make it invalid.
1. what is beltane?
Glorified may day.
*Relating to statements made in jest. We do have a sense of humor you know.

First of all, you don't become a witch just like that *snaps fingers*... if you are a witch you are born a witch, then you work at it. Secondly... sigh, never mind.

All I'm saying is that Witchcraft is not for everyone. You either are a witch or you aren't. And yes, true witches are born witches.

.. and let me guess. You are a true, born Witch.. and even although you still have much to learn you already have great power and have potential for even more great things. Besides that, there are just very few true witches born so that makes you reallllly really special? Am I close?
*sneezes* .. sorry.. the fluff got to me ;)

I think I got off on the wrong foot in here. I didn't mean to offend anyone, all I meant to do was point out that you don't exactly decide to be a witch because of "top 13 reasons" or anything like that, although I now realise that it was just meant to be a joke. I don't think I'm more special than people who aren't witches, but yes, I was born with witchcraft in the blood and I believe all witches are. But that's just my opinion, so once again I'm sorry. :)

yeah, right. love the "i'm special because my mommy red Garder and taught me (which does NOT make one famtrad)" witchypoos.
ALL people have the gifts of being in tune with the universe, some just take notice or endeavor to develop it.

True, all people have the gifts of being in tune with the universe, being psychic etc. But that isn't Witchcraft. Once again I DON'T think I'm more special than anyone else. It's making my head hurt too.

.... but yes, I was born with witchcraft in the blood and I believe all witches are.
You got me interested.. care to elaborate on this? What's in your bloodline?
LotusGem

I didn't actually mention my bloodline, I meant that you feel it in your blood, but I do believe that witches are born. That's just my opinion. They sense from a young age that they are different and can do, see, and hear things that other people can't. Maybe you lot weren't born witchy and you just decided one day to become a witch because you live for persecution  but I doubt it. Most likely you grew up being interested in things like nature, astrology, magic and fortune telling without knowing why, until you discovered witchcraft and it all made sense. It resonated and you felt like you had come home. Am I right? You don't just go "oMG, liKe, i M GoNNa b a WytCh cOz THey gEt MOrE hoLiDAyZ!!!!!1111one" It is much deeper than that. And I don't think just anyone can be a witch. As you go through life you'll realise that some people are about as magical as an old mintie wrapper, but that doesn't make us more special. It just makes us different.

Well.. I think that all depends on how you exactly define 'witchcraft'. Any yuppy can one day decide his life is not fullfilling and choose to follow another path, growing closer to nature, paying attention to his intuition, body etc etc.
Also.. the whole 'fortune telling' thing isn't necessarily something you have to be born with imho. Ofcourse there are people who are gifted with clearvoyance, the ability to see ghosts/spirits etc.. but something like Tarot cards is based on the idea that no coincedance exist and that the cards you lay on the table are there for a reason. The interpretation can be learned.. for some it will go easily, others will have to study on it.
Also, I don't think it's like an 'on' and 'off' button.. someone can have more 'skills' if you want to call it that, than others. One person might be able to give a mind blowing tarot interpretation, along with runes and advice you on herbs etc etc.. while others just do small spells and rituals and use Tarot to get a better insight in their own lives. It's not that black and white.. imho.
I get from your post that you don't believe in karma either? Since karma basically is based on the whole idea of 'what you do to others will be done to you'.. wicca just sees this as the threefold law.. others see it as keeping the spirit/universe in balance..
