This is an amazing site that is great for all sorts of people interested in religion - atheists, agnostics, theists, and just free-thinkers in general.

www.infidelguy.com (http://www.infidelguy.com/?ref=jameslazarus)

Check it out! Download free radio shows, including my new one: "Strong Atheism: Part II". Check out the chatroom, the forums, etc. etc. Great place to hang out and learn something.

I put my faith in my children. They can make better use of it.

I put my faith in love. Love can do the impossible, and that is what we need right now.

Also, I put my faith in good winning out over evil in the long run, though I don't have a clear idea what this concept will result in. Maybe our civilizations destruction will be the 'good' thing that will happen. I just don't know.

LOVE? What do you mean?

agape, eros, philia, storge?
what a familiar question...do you have another identity?

agape is the closest.

unconditional love might be a good definition.

No. Who else asked you this?
can't recall, but they just listed the four words exactly the same, in response to a post I made about love.

my guess is that it was because these are the 4 orignal greek words for love and it is a distinction all linguists, ethicists, liturests, etc. etc. must make - they are well known in most fields
Sounds like a good explanation to me.

I have to admit, I couldn't properly define them all, I am sure.

The idea of loving someone for who they are, accepting them as is, that is what I mean.

Who are you fooling my friend.?
You are just as much an optimist as occam...

Occam sees in your words the same thing occam wishes, hopes for.
That we will not destroy ourselves...

It seems beyond belief that we could be so stupid as to kill ourselves.
Yet blind greedy ego has allowed the path to exist.

We must become one.

Everyone knows what ram and rom and cpu mean, yet so few are willing to go out on a limb and define love.....

Your quote is an apt one.

Your quote is an apt one. Quite true...
occam has started two posts trying to define it...
And trashed both.

Maybe love cannot be defined with words.
The closet we come is with music.

But that is also a pale shadow.

I think you are right to say words do not do love justice. I certainly have no way to verbalize what I feel as being love.
The closest I can come to expressing it is physically, and through my expressions.

pretty similiar to a lot of ideas/philosophy for me. I know what they are, but i'll need time and study before I have anything much further on them.

Christian Missionary "So you now believe that you must be born again?"

Hindu "Yes, I must be born again."

Missionary "That is great, I am very pleased how quickly you have learned this."

Hindu, "Yes, I must be born again, and again, and again, and again...."
