we had a wicked thunder storm today it lasted ages. legend has it that thunder storms are the best whether to send your wishes into the ether, so next times theres a storm near you, get your book of shadows out and start casting!

anyone know of any storm gods or goddess's that one can work with dueing a thunder storm. Zeus immediatly springs to mind has he threw lightening bolts and Thor, they would probably be very good if you wish to do a protection spell too.
can't think of any female dieties but there must be....

I love it when it rains and when there are thunderstorms... even as a kid I was never freaked out by them, but rather I counted the days sometimes to the next one!

Every time it rains I collect the rainwater for my altar ... I even like staying up and watch the lightening... It's a good suggestion to do protection spells, I never thought of doing spellcasting (although I should have!) It's very mesmerizing....

Samhain, I'll remember that info. about thunderstorms...we hd two wicked ones yesterday; I would have loved to have done some ceremony around them, but I was too busy closing down the hatches!!

I combine Native American spirituality/shamanism with some wicca practices...is there anyone here who is into shamanism, either doing it on their own, or studying it formally? Hope this question isn't off topic...not entirely sure how Wicca incorporates shamanism, or even if it does...

theres so many overlaps between the pagan religions a lot of things that witches do already have roots in druidry and shamanism, e.g. useing smudge sticks to spiritualty cleanse.
i think its fine to incorpurate any religions together, although its so much easier to mix the pagan faiths, as other faiths may have opposing views.
btw i know two christian witches so you know......

theres two things i would like to add, i don't think its good enough for a person to practice elements of a faith without finding out the history of it, people have died and suffered in amny different ways so that we can practice as pagans today.
i'm not a shaman so therefore don't know a lot about it, but if a person wishes to follow that faith then its respectful to the ancestors to know how that faith grew and what people went through for it.
i'm not making a judgement on how much you do or don't know i'm simply stating my point of view on the subject of shamanism.

the other thing is that there is as much snobbery in the pagan faiths as there are in any other, and that is the time that you'll have to stick true to your beliefs, as some may critise you for not being pure wiccan or pure shaman for that matter.

with regards to thunder its worth keeping in mind a handful of spells that you can do quickly during the storm, as it oftens hits us without notice ans the last thing you'll be wanting to do is root around in your book shelf looking for something appropiate in which case its probably passed by the time you get going anyway!

I just remembered something my mom always told me.... during thunderstorms, to always keep the windows closed... I wonder why that was? There was some rational to it, not just to keep the rain out... I don't know exactly...

I use to be really scared of such storms. Sent me packing to bed!

Now, I love to watch lightening makine its wild, unpredicable paths across the clouds. Thunder rumbles just like my stomach.

I hope to find a lighting struck tree to gather bits of it for really powerful magikal use. No need to infuse with energy if its already got LOADS in it.

I've always loved storms and felt a connection to the higher powers during them. Even as a child with no idea about paganism.

Never scared me at all. :)

Those are great ideas, shall have to try them out.
