I would like to explore some vibrations here but first I have to figure out where the notes are and how tight the strings should be....man, this is gonna take a while.
It may finaly be time to break down and buy those wooden pegs, the plastic ones just can't stay in tune.
...there's always crazy glue.

When they say ebony w/inlay do you think they mean black plastic, because they are selling these for a dollar...

Hmm well if you want your violin tuned you could just pass it over to me.........reaches across the Atlantic hopefully........failing that...yes to wooden pegs.....you can get chalk to put on them to make turning them easier .......and have you considered adjusters? You know the little twiddley things that you can fit on the tailpiece.......makes tuning much much easier:)

I have the twiddly thingies on my end piece, it's just that the plastic pegs slip and never hold it when I finaly get it in tune and it's really frustrating because eventually I say 'forget it' and just play it out of tune...and that makes me cringe.
*hands over the fiddle* please take it....
What is the difference between a fiddle and a violin?

Usage :p
have you tried roughing up the pegs a bit with coarse sand paper?
Glad you could down load it :). I have to do it on line, Macs don't do exe. files.
Grabs tuning fork, wacks it on table and applies it to head bone......

I think that having wooden pegs will make all the difference then.....let us know how you get on:)
Like Nirgal says as far as I know there's no difference between a violin and a fiddle it's what you do with it that counts! So if I'm off to the folk club, I'm playing fiddle, if I'm having lessons with my teacher, I play the violin.
I don't want to put you off tuning from the net, but my teacher thinks tuning an A from a tuning fork, then tuning by ear to fifths above and below is the only way. I know she's right, but especially if you are tuning from scratch, and are getting totally fed up with it all, a little electronic help is okay in my book :)
Sighs...just wish I lived closer as I would come round and help......
