A friend asked this crucial & essential question:

>How do you know when one is worthy of respect?

Difficult to recognize, but one should keep on examining the person from all angles:

In brevity:
One who is freed of all Greed, all Hate & all Ignorance
in thought, speech and action is quite worthy of respect.

In detail:
One who is of perfected morality or training towards that, is worthy of respect.
One who is of perfected concentration or training towards that, is worthy of respect.
One who is of perfected understanding or training towards that, is worthy of respect.
One who is of perfected mental release or training towards that, is worthy of respect.
One who is of perfected knowledge & vision or training towards that is worthy of respect.

On the contrary:
One who is craving for gain is not worthy of respect.
One who is craving for fame is not worthy of respect.
One who is craving for praise is not worthy of respect.
One who is craving for pleasure is not worthy of respect.
One who is fearing loss is not worthy of respect.
One who is fearing insignificanse is not worthy of respect.
One who is fearing critique is not worthy of respect.
One who is fearing pain is not worthy of respect.

In conclusion:
A friend endowed with these three qualities is worth associating with.
Which three? He gives what is hard to give, he does what is hard to do,
he endures what is hard to endure.
A friend endowed with these three qualities is worth associating with.

There should be no-one who is not worthy of respect. Everyone in the entire universe is doing the best they can under circumstance. This is very important to understand.
