Granny X fell from the 15cm step of the bussiness next to where occam works..
She must have been 80 years old [in the shade]

"Oh My god" came the sound....As piercing as that of a newborn that is hungry.
She called for the thing she thought would save her...
But it was bob who did that...Not god..or occam....

Bob 'was' a medic, ex of helo insertion type medic in vietnam...
He had that woman in the right possy and calm within seconds...
He was at that moment...a medic again...he. 'understood' the situation.
He acted,,

While occam, some 5 meters from the fall and facing that way
stood as a boulder in a lonely waste...unable, or unwilling to move..
Why?
Occam calls himself a 'goodman' , yet he did not move....
He can ask this here...because the answers may be unsullied by preconception.

His inaction feels almost a stain....it will not go away...

Occam

Hikaru believes that both Bob and Occam are "goodmen," in different ways. He is sure that Occam has helped many people throughout his life, and will continue to help people, even if not physically.

Hikaru finds that Bob has medical training. He understands the situation more accurately than Occam, because he has lived that situation over and over again, and has been trained to handle situations exactly like that. Conversely, Occam is not trained to handle situations such as that; most people aren't trained to handle situations like that. The best we can do is stand by helplessly and watch, feeling as though we aren't doing anything to help.

When the truth of the matter is, we CAN'T do anything to help. Since we are not trained to handle such situations, when someone who IS trained to handle the situation is present, we only become a hinderance to that person, and we only get in the way.

Sometimes, standing aside is necessary. Guilt and personal anguish should not be felt because our physical selves were unable to help. Help still arrived, and in this situation, if Occam tried to help, it would probably only get in Bob's way. Occam specializes in helping people in other ways; mental ways, for example, such as leading people in a sound and logical direction with their thoughts.

You see, Occam and Bob are a team; humanity is also a team. Each part of the team is designed to perform separate actions.

It is this same reason why Jerry Rice, former star wide reciever for the San Francisco 49ers (American Football team) is not a linebacker, nor is he the quarterback, nor is he a runningback. If there were no quarterback, or linebacker, or runningback, he might be able to perform these jobs, but nowhere near to the efficiency of another man of this trained action. Instead, Jerry does HIS job, and lets his teammates do the jobs they are designed to do.

Just as in war, medics help people, and soldiers fight, in an effort to stop medics from HAVING to save people.

Bob did his job that day, and will continue to do so in the future. And Occam must not be hindered by personal disappointment to have the power to do all jobs of humanity at once, but must rather continue to focus on the job that he has set for himself; to improve humanity's views, and reform society to be better as a whole, even if only through mental enlightenment.

Occam's feeling of disappointment for not doing Bob's job is (likely) not shared by Bob; Hikaru doubts that Bob can do the same things as Occam for people, by acting as a light and leading in the right direction; not to save individual people, but to save humanity as a whole. =)

Occam has done great things for many people, surely. Bob also does great things for many people. The things each do are different, but all things these men do lead in the right direction.

One man alone cannot do everything, as Occam has previously pointed out. Sometimes, each man must rely on the rest of his brethren to help them out.

Hikaru
You should be a councellor.

Occam posted this and then. asked himself...who would care.?
Why did he post in agnosticism of all places....
Perhaps he feels that those who visit here..are the most ballanced. The most able to respond with a ballanced. relevent perspective.

It seems in comparrison to the horrors that happen about the world...
As nothing...
But it ate at the mind of this one...

Occam still thinks that he should have done something....but he has a predisposition to feel reponsible...
But maybe this whole event is a lesson learned...A precedent to future actions.
Occam is determined to learn from his mistakes... And as you point out,, bob,,,a rough looking dude who the average 'sute' would call a bum.
But who is actually a decorated medic from Aussie involvement in vietnam.
Had it 'sorted'
[as no sute would]

That is learning..understanding.

Thank you my friend

Occam,

It is no problem, my friend! Sometimes, we shut the eye of reason (... or emotion) and do not know how to reopen it, and we must rely on our brethren to tell us how again. =)
