I used to hate them. I still can't stomach shop bought ones and it's rare to get veggie ones I can eat anyway. But I've started to make my own and I've really warmed to them. You have to get the texture right. It can come out too grainy or sloppy if you're not careful like

For me the pastry has to be right and I like to add a few indian spices to the veg but then it's not really a cornish pasty.
