Okay. I'm not Jewish, I'm Mormon, but I'm interested in Judaism (not in converting; I just like learning a lot about different religions) and I keep noticing it written as not God but "G-d"....why? :)

some people consider saying god is taking his name in vain, and also ive heard, that the name of god shouldnt be written in case someone was to defame it, or something along that line. im agnostic but very interested in judaism, and too, not in converting but i like learning about it, and my girlfriends jewish so yeah..

Gaza, I'm not sure where you heard that. When I go to websites that have God's unspoken name in Hebrew on them, there is usually a reminder not to throw anything away that is printed out, and to bury it as you said. But God is not God's name. It's not even Hebrew. The Tetragrammaton is God's unspoken name. When reading Hebrew, it is typically substituted in speech with HaShem, which means The Name, or Adonai, which means Lord.

actually God or G-D just refers to the propper noun. g-d is just respect, and is NOWHERE in the torah which isnt in english anyway. the hebrew name for god, is not supposed to be taken in vain or common use. and it should not be thrown away or erased. im agnostic, but come from a jewish backround.

yeah as far as i've heard its just a respect thing that you shouldnt write out the full name of god or something like that
