Oh, I forgot "Are you Afraid of the Dark"!! that was a big Saturday night event at our house, back in the day. We would turn off all the lights and get spooky. Fun. Those shows were really well made too, I thought. I would watch them again if they were rerun. And in the mornings we watched Bill Cosby do Picture Pages, that was a hit too. "Picture Pages, Picture Pages, can you do your picture pages, ....dadada (can't remember the words)... your paper and your pencil".

Was guts the one with that crazy british chick and the guy was like Tell us about this course Moira and she'd be like "At the sound of my whistle, all three players will smoke a doobie (or whatever the thing was)". That chick was nuts.

oh my god! I loved Hey Dude and Space Cases!! The girl with rainbow hair named Catalina was my idol- and the brown haired boy from hey dude went on to be some guy on Sabrina the Teenage Witch with Clarissa. I thought that was pretty spiffy. And the entire cast of Salute your shorts fell off the fac eof the earth, no?

good times. oh and i liked stick stickly. you know, the popcycle stick with eyes. when it was that you pick the shows thing and you could call in and stick stickly would air a certain episode- they had all those shows on their after they were cancelled. even- YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION!

does no one remember YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION?! it was like the original All That. it's the reason that nick slimes people! i hearted YCDTOT.

and Are You Afraid of The Dark? was so awesome. I think my favorite was the one where Tia and Tamara Mowry guest starred and it was this girl and this chamelion that turned into her and pushed her down a well and stole her identity... or maybe the one where the girl finds the dollhouse in her attic and magically goes inside it and starts to become plastic. That one gave me weird dreams as a kid.

:)

When I was a kid, I was so freaked out by the AYAOTD with that scarecrow. I just could not watch that episode. But, I always liked the ones with Sardoe (accent on the "doe") and the ones with that fat, weird, bearded Docter guy.

I know this wasn't on Nick, but I have to mention the puppet version of "Fraggle Rock", it was my all time favorite show as a kid. It used to come on at 6am on HBO, my dad would tape it for me to watch later on in the day. I've got something like 6 or so VHS tapes full of Fraggle Rock shows. I'm gonna have to watch some of those soon!

what was that one show with that red head chick?? I loved are you afraid of the dark! my favorite on was when the girl is like visiting her aunt's house and she's trying to make friends but the people wont let her in their group unless she spends the night in this one haunted house and she does, then she gets locked in the room...or the one with the pool and that one creepy ghost guy that drowned along time ago....JEEZ this is a major blast from the past. if these shows were still on, i'd probably never leave my house!

Hey smiley strange, you're lookin' happily deranged.....
I miss all of those grunge-influenced shows, lol. I remember liking Pete & Pete in particular.
When Roundhouse first came on, I remember thinking it was a "bad" show because they'd use mild cuss words and make sexual jokes. As I got slightly older, however, I began to watch it occasionally.
I also watched Are You Afraid of the Dark? (I wanted my own Midnight Society, lol), Ren & Stimpy, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Clarissa,You Can't Do That, and--going back farther--Pinwheel, Picture Pages, Maya the Bee, David the Gnome, Maple Town, and Grimm's Fairy Tales (I think that was the title). There was another old-old-school variety show I watched that had a young Dave Coulier and a bunch of weird skits and interviews. It looked like the whole show was produced for about $10.
I didn't really like Double Dare, because it was so repetitive. You always had people trying to catch liquid in a cup on their heads, running in a giant hamster wheel, and diving through a slide that looked like a big mouth and tongue for a minivan or an atari. I also disliked Wild N Crazy Kids, because it always seemed like such a huge waste to me (I guess I was an environmentalist even then.) Throwing hundreds of toilet paper rolls around, smashing food all over the ground, crushing brand new remote control toys--I just saw it as wasteful and adding more junk to the world. [Although, I did get some amusement from the show once--a bunch of kids fishing around in a tub full of letters for a 'hangman' game systematically pulled out the letters P, E, N, I, and S by chance.]
There was also a pretty decent show about wildlife I used to watch when I was in upper grade school, but I can't remember the title. It was a boy and girl who would travel to different habitat locations and talk about endangered species.

I used to be in love with Little Pete fron Pete & Pete! (gotta thing for redheads)
Sulute your Shorts was one of my favs. Not all the characters dropped of the place of the earth though. Melody went on to act in some other things and of course Venus Williams is a great tennis player. (not as good as her sis but what ever) I loved AHHH!Real Monsters and Rocko was my favorite nicktoon of all time.

I could never watch Legends of the HIdden Temple though. I always fell asleep. It was on right before dinner and I usually took a nap. I never got to see if the winning team made it through. Does anyone remember the name of the gameshow that was about video games? That host is now "Jimmy" on Yes, Dear.

I barely remember You can't do that on Television...I remember Alanis Morisette was on it. Anyone else remember that?

I remember my sunday mornings were ruled by the cartoon block from 9 am until 11 am...It was Rugrats, Doug, Ren and Stimpy, and Rocko's Modern Life. In that order. And then they added two more shows and then took away some of the originals and I stopped watching.

Watching Rocko's Modern Life now, you can see the adult political themes and intellectual jokes they made. It was actually a show for all ages. I get the major jokes now. The only thing that sucks is that the parts I laugh at now are not the parts that kids laugh at, so the kids think I'm nuts.

I used to have a major jones for Sam from Clarissa. He rocked. He was so cute and intelligent and just...if I hadn't been only 8 years old, I would have really liked him.

Oh! And you can't forget the first seasons of All That! You know...the good ones with Lori Beth and that Josh kid. All the kids could actually act and were funny as hell. They weren't on it because their siblings have connections (Fuck off, Spearsoids!).

I loved Are You Afraid of The Dark?! It was intelligent (on a kids level) entertainment...and if you could find the foreshadowing or figure out the riddles along the way, you wouldn't get scared. It was great!

And PETE AND PETE! That was so great! I loved the oldest pete. And Michele Trachtenburg! We've watched her grow up! She's now that hot girl in Eurotrip...it's weird...haha...

The episodes that most stand out for me on Are You Afraid of the Dark are:

The kid that loved to play arcade machines so much, that he somehow got stuck in a game, and right when he thinks he has won, at the very end at the top of the escalator (it took place in a mall) he sees the giant ball bearing roll into place.

The one where the kids play hockey or something on the thirteenth floor of the building. Then one day someone buys the space and they set up a toy shop. The girl gets invited to come out and try the toys, and she brings the boy along with her. They put her to work on all these "games". Then we find out that the owners of the toy shop are actually aliens trying to take her. THEN we find out that the girl is an alien they accidently left behind years ago, and were coming to pick up.

The one where the kids go to a weird boarding school. All the kids get woken up in the middle of the night to go put salt or something on these giant floating eggs. They are some sort of monsters. Then they almost destroy all of them in the end, but then we see one unbroken egg rocking.

On Salute Your Shorts, the one where Michael is either faking sick or is actually sick, and somehow Budnick gets stuck with him in the nurses office. They raid the ice cream freezer. Then they find a puzzle, Michael wants to put it together, but for some reason Budnick gets butthurt and throws it out the door. He then gets the pieces, and they start to put it together wrongside up, then when they turn it over, it is a picture of ice cream.

Or the one where Dina and ZeeZee are trying to get tickets to a George Michael concert.

Or the one where Donkeylips and the little scrawny kid (can't remember his name) have to lose weight, and the little one has to gain it.

And FYI the name of the Pete and Pete theme is called Hey Sandy by Polaris
