Can you grow a plant from a seed?

I grew a few pot plants about 10 years ago..they were shit and my wife sprayed them with wd-40 when I was in Vegas, so they died..I am not so good in this area..I would like to be..not just weed, but all kinds of plants..I am going to go and buy some pink jasmine and a trellis for the back yard...I do like vines..I have grasss and trees and an orange and lemon tree and ground cover but that was all put in when I moved in..

So, what is your skilz in this area?

we had a vegetable garden every year when i was growing up; i'm able to pull off a variety of veggies. never really tried pot; my roommate did once a long time ago, but he failed miserably (he had several more successful attempts, but not the time he did it in the apartment).
