LMFAO.

Good shit guys.

In all seriousness, I do have some questions about this.

First, I found this in the FAQ section:

How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?

If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.

Is this feature activated for the HF? If so, is this indicated by the little green jewels or is that separate and solely used as a visual guide to somebody's karmic balance on HF?

Also, would it be inappropriate to ask what kind of changes have been made to the functions of this service to keep it from becoming a form of harassment as I feel it did the last time it was implemented?

This is all I have for now, though I think I had more earlier.

well I can't give negative reputation, I don't know about anybody else but it would be pretty hard to harass somebody with positive rep :cheers2:

Below a users post count and over to the left is a old school silver scale looking thing. Click it. Dunno about yours, but mine just is a little mini pop up with an optional comment box. Have fun....

So, just out of curiosity, did everyone who had rep before get to keep their rep points? I've notices some with red jewels right off the bat, and some with different messages when you hover over the jewel, and like TCF there, he started with two stones.

I'm just a little confused.

I understood what the rep thing was and stuff, just didn't understand why some people started off with different messages, most have "on a distinguished road" as I have, but some of something else, and more jewels...

I was curious to know now many points it takes to get more jewel, or status of rep to change, I didn't see anything about that.

Yes, we used to have the karma points and they were disabled because of abuse. That's why I'm starting out with three green things under my name. I have 222 points last time I checked. I think it was members that no longer come here that gave me so many points.

I don't understand this points system. The Experience page says a post is worth 1 point, but my total number of points for everything is lower than my postcount.

To rep other people you click the balance scales next to the report post button. If you look below somebodys avatar and to the left a bit, you should see it.

I think it's pretty awesome, especially since you can see the stats of posters.

The reputation points system is not a good fit with the forum's free speech concept. It creates a strong incentive to agree with everyone.

What setting have you adjusted Skip?

I know you add/subtract more points from other people according to how much you have yourself, but I just wondered how exactly it worked.

Some people are being assholes already and abusing it, I doubt that will come as much of a surprise to you.

I liked the rep system in the last place I was that had it, but TBH I am just considering turning it off here.

Neutral: the person who repped you doesn't have the ability to affect your score.

McLeodGanja
07-29-2009, 04:17 PM
Why would someone not have the ability to add or subtract from your score?

What then is the point in that?

If they have low or negative reputation themselves, they can't add to or subtract from anyone else's...
