View Full Version : results from first led grow
heres some led grow pics. I used an illuminator ufo-90w, 2x45w glow panels, 24w of cree white led, and 40w of 660nm red bulbs.3 0z dry from 7 rooted clones.Cool new tek for the micro grower, but dont throw away those hps systems quite yet. This tek has a very long way to go to be used for larger grows.400 w comparison-yeah right.

nice looking plants. If I calculated correctly, you have about 250 watts of LED going for 3 oz. I think that could be pulled with a 250 HPS and then some. So, you're right, the technology is not quite there yet.
I'm excited about the prospect, tthough

I'm excited about the prospect, tthoughthank you, I'm still led'ing it-but I've found a couple tricks to boost yield-I've improved my methods; first multiple angles are a must-I currently have 3 tri-band spectrum ufos in a mylar tent-all set at different angles for max coverage(takes care of that little penetration problem)+ 2 12w 1w diode pure white fixtures- total-298 watts-in 16 sq ft-growth has been phenomenal. Second-red and blue arent enough-different bands of red-blue-orange, and white-are all needed IMHO for a good harvest. And mylar is a must to bounce around those narrowly projected beams-third-660nm red is a must for flowering-older units used 620-630 nm-nuh-uh.We're not there yet-cost has to come way down- but we're getting there-one color at a time.

i would tend to think LEDs are too narrow in the spectrum they output, maybe needing many colors at once...but the wattage and heat saving potential may be worth exploring

so what kinda weight yield you getting with this setup? kinda impossible to guess from the pics..
so what kinda weight yield you getting with this setup? kinda impossible to guess from the pics..whats up? the results will be news to me too-this'll be my largest set-up to date with led, had to do the small grows first to figure how to maximize flowering potential, and see these things flower for myself. But under 300w the growth has been tropical- flowering? stay tuned,

no,,, i was asking about the previous grow. sorry for not being clear.
you can get a gram/watt with this system this guy is getting the same with 60w-60grams a pull-from 60 watts. http://www.ledgrow.eu/

i didnt ask what you "can" get, i asked what YOU got..
well.. it was written in the first post-watts/ yield # of rooted clones

I'm wondering if using a 250w metal halide as the main (top) light, then using all the led's for side lighting.A 250 doesn't drive up the energy costs very much, but I'm thinking it will go a long way in balanceing the total spectrum, improving yield.I've been doing indoor since 83 and am very interested in the led's,but so far I'm not impressed enough to lay out big bucks for questionable lighting.Jmho.
