...And spent a few days eating, jamming, playin' with the dogs, and diggin' RAMPS.
And just fer shits-n-giggles, went to a METAL concert in Cleveland ta see old man's son perform. Spent the evening plastered to the far wall. (ears will never be the same) Rode to NY on the tour bus. Remember high school days on the football team bus?

Anyhoo, here's to ramps.

Yup, that's her.....:D I'm not usually that good at being the narrator, but I had that crawly feeling you get when there might be bears around and you are all alone...

Ramps are damn hard to find 'round here too. I have a couple tiny little private patches that we planted 20 something years ago, and still there are not enough to do any more than pick some tops. But I dug so many when we went visitin' in NY that I STILL have some in the fridge! I hear in NY you can get sent home from school for your breath smelling like ramps. Well, mine been smellin' that way for better-n a month... Like it or leave it, I say!

you were a great narrator. great voice.

you didn't dig up anything. i thought that was the whole point of the video, and im still confused as to what the hell ramps are because of it.

Well, damn. Iffen I'd-a had some other body there ta work the camera while I dug, might-a worked better.

Ramps:
Sort of a wild - tastes-like-a-cross-between-garlic-and-onions kind-a thing, except sweeter, that looks sort-a like a young green onion when ya dig 'em up, 'cept fer the wide leaves. Some varieties have wider leaves than others and some have reddish stems and some have white stems. All taste about the same. All those ramps in the vid, there were all different varieties mixed together.

It's a hill folk delicacy - spring tonic kind-a thing. Old time way to fix 'em is to chop em up and cook in BACON GREASE...

Personally, I think they are the nuts in just about anything made with potatoes or eggs (one of my faves, jerusalem artichokes-n-ramps), or steam-fried with butter and cheese melted over 'em... Super side dish for last fall's canned venison. And they are GREAT raw, sweet and only a little "hot"...
