Poetry from the Dark Side of the Night
I Die a Little Death
By Gig
I die a little death each day that I'm alone
Finding love is like getting water from a stone
The darkness at the end of day is not the night
But rather in the search of hope a lack of light
And foolish desire erupts with every smile
Tho' the truth behind it might just be filled with bile
I die a little death
Each time I take a breath
I crave but human touch
But will never see such
As I pass from this land
Ne'er to walk hand in hand.
I die a little death, each morn when I awake
In a great big empty bed, Oh for heaven's sake
Eating breakfast by myself kills the taste of food
And tho' the sun shines bright it can't improve my mood
My prison is walking alone upon this earth
With no hope of increasing solitary worth
I die a little death
Each time I take a breath
I crave but human touch
But will never see such
As I pass from this land
Ne'er to walk hand in hand.
I die a little death each night when I lay down
With no hope that the 'morrow will bring love around
With nothing to offer any woman's true heart
So whyfore ever would I consider a start
My dreams were shattered by my age and by my health
Cupid's arrows missed, my friend, now death comes by stealth
I die a little death
Each time I take a breath
I crave but human touch
But will never see such
As I pass from this land
Ne'er to walk hand in hand.
From lonliness my life's blood has gone down the drain
And solitude's cursed my life with a mind insane.
