My First Love
By Gig

Light brown hair had Julie D
Bright green eyes glowed just for me
We shared hearts and deepest fears
More than once there were some tears

In a fight I won her heart
He lost out, She loved my art
Holding hands and with a kiss
Walking home I wooed my miss

Love began when we were six
Growing up it did not mix
In fourth grade she moved away
For awhile my days were gray

Time moved on, I loved again
Love letters, I wrote with pen
Happy thoughts, those of that girl
Sweet young lass, a pretty pearl.

Hey Ramble,

The truth huh? The truth is I fell for this girl Julie in the first grade. Her next door neighbor was a classmate of ours and would tell everyone that she was his girlfriend. She didn't like it and he and I ended up in a fight. Nothing serious, after all we were only around six years old. Anyway, I won and she then told everyone that I was her girlfriend. She and I spent the rest of that day playing innocent games (Go Fish, Rock'em Sock'em Robots, Mousetrap, etc.) and spent the next several years as very close friends that only kids of that age can be. We would always be partners in any class projects we got involved in and would play and listen to music and all that kind of stuff together. In the early spring of 4th grade, her family moved to the other side of the town, which was just a little too big to ride bikes across. We lost touch for several years. Then in seventh grade we ended up in the same geography class in junior high school. We dated for a few months, then went our separate ways. She started dating one of my best friends and I started dating one of hers. I still remember her with heartfelt fondness, about 44 years later. Enough of the truth for you? LOL!
