Intro: Hey all, my first post, but been lurking around for a while. I need some help before we do something we regret.......

My friends have been on methadone for about 5 years now. They started out taking them on the weekends for 5 years. A couple months ago their hookup disappeared and nothing anymore, just fell off the face of the earth!!!

So instead of WD we started 40MG OC's. We are now in a hard spot. We need the M's so much and everyday we literally cry everyday, get constant headaches, cant work cause we worry about how we are going to get more and who we can call. I know it makes me sound like a pussy, but its the truth. We just dont know who to talk to or what to do. We dont want to stop right now. We are still young and dont plan to have children for at least a year. We want to have more fun before settling down and having a family.

We dont know where to go or what to do. Its getting incredably bad now.

Does anyone know what it would take to make these homegrown?
I have a BS and I am not a dummy, what would it take? Does anyone know?

We were taking 10mg Methadone each. I have tried to find it EVERYWHERE with NO luck!! I live in the New England area and there is NOTHING!!!

Please give us some suggestions for where to and what to do.

I'm confused..... You were on a clinic?.... because you said you had take homes for the weekends. Then you said your connect disappeared which made it seem like you were getting it off the street. Now I am thinkin, maybe your connect sold u his take homes, I'm sure, you'll have to clarify that. But my first obvious thought is just go get on the clinic yourself. But you also said you wanna have fun for a while longer and thats not what MMT is for it's to stop using street opiates and take the cravings away and eventually detox hopefully, and it sould like you are not having fun anymore anyway. This is route I would take if I were you.

EDIT: okay, now it sounds to me like you were calling your clinic a connect...and that you were on the clinic and it just up and closed on you? I'm not sure where you live but if you are near any big city there are prolly plenty of clinics around. But I'm still not sure what you were tryin to say there, but if possible get back on a clinic or lookinto Suboxone.

Well this should be easy. Just fucking STOP. you might get a little headache. but doing it on weekends for 5 yrs isn't shit. In fact your body isn't even dependent on them.
So quit your sniveling and buck up and have a beer or something..

Sorry guys, let me clarify. My friends were not going to a clinic. They were from a friend of a friend. They dont know what happened to her. She dropped off of the face of the earth. Phone shut off, moved, like she never existed!

Also, sorry for not going in more detail with how they were taking them. They started 5 years ago just on the weekends. About 9 months ago they started to take them everyday. Now they are up to 80MG each a day of OC's. They say they take the OC's just till they find the M's. They also state that when they get the M's it helps them stop the OC's completly until they run out of the M's. They have not been able to find the M's for about 2 months so they are taking 40MG everyday just to work and then another 40 at night just to sleep through the night.

Also, they cannot just goto a clinic because of their jobs. They both work in areas I dont even want to mention here because of the severity.

And no, you can not "grow" Methadone.

Also, another option is to actually go to a Methadone clinic. It will be cheaper then buying them on the street, but I don't recommend going down that road.

If you and your friends have been doing this for 5 years and you only take 80mg of Oxy, then you don't even need a Methadone clinic...just stop. I am jealous about how much easier your WD's will be than mine.

No, you won't be able to do that.

Anyways, like I said...if after 5 years...80mg of OC still works for you and keeps you well, I would just tough it out. I know Methadone has WD's that last a fuckton longer then other opiates, but at only 10mg, you really shouldn't even be WD'ing. Might be more of a want, then a need, to be honest.

Yes, absolutely no more fun involved. More of a need type of thing. I dont believe it to be very bad physically, but extremely bad mentally. They both are very depressed about the direction they are heading and just want to be normal once again, but also want to keep getting that high to overcome the depression as well. It also makes your life like a porn star! That by itself is very addictive!

If they are HONESTLY taking THAT MUCH Methadone, they need to either get on Suboxone, or get into a clinic ASAP. That is such a ridiculous amount.

You said they were taking 10mg. Not 300. You also stated 40mg OC in the first post, and changed it to 80mg OC later on.

Start over and explain more in depth about everything....it will make answering and helping you A LOT easier.

I am sorry, but it's nearly impossible to believe that a 300mg a day Methadone habit is not bad physically. If they are worried about the direction "they" are headed, then there is only one clear answer. Quit. Wether it be by use of Suboxone, or by going to an actual Methadone clinic and letting them taper you...that is the only thing that will make "them" "normal" again.

If "they" have depression, they shouldn't be using drugs recreationally to combat it. They need to see a doctor and talk to them about depression and get on depression medication.

I don't see how 300mg of Methadone a day makes you feel like you are living the life of a porn star, aside from the doing drugs daily side...

I really don't know what you are asking us to do for you, aside from giving you a source to buy Methadone from. I mean, if you are that hard-up...you do realize that Methadone clinics GIVE you Methadone LEGALLY.

Well 300mgs is a far cry from 10mgs, Just go to a clinic, thery will accept you, especially with that kind of habit..
If you and your wife both go, it has to be cheaper than buying them off the street.
You can also go into detox and let them get you clean in 5 days. Maybe more with that habit.
Anyway there are a couple of choices for you.

I have never tried methadone but I have tried suboxone. you can find a doctor in your area. Call around and find the cheapest one. I paid my doc $200/ month and all he did was write a suboxone script, no questions asked. I was using about the same amount of oxy (about 80 mg a day) and your right the mental withdraw sucks. Cant concentrate or get work done or sleep. I really like the suboxone. i was motivated and even got a nice 12 hour buzz from it.

Did I say anything about being big or bad for dosing more then others? I have a chronic pain issue that has left me on prescribed opiates for 4 years so far. Who said my problems were worse or more real? You wanted to make a comment about people not being sympathetic. I don't feel sorry for myself, and I don't feel that anyone else should be. Unfortunately, most of you take opiates for recreational purposes, and then want to complain about WD"s....and I don't agree with it.

If you take opiates, you know that they come with a serious mental, and even worse, physical addiction. If you don't know that, you shouldn't be doing them in the first place.

I never said you were trying to "1 up" me. I have been in this guys shoes, NOT BY CHOICE. I am simply stating that there is no reason to give a shitload of sympathy to someone who knew the consequences...and if I sound like an asshole for saying that, so be it.

On top of all this, I suggested Suboxone as well...so why would you pick apart my post when I suggested the same thing you did, before you suggested it?

I still stand by my original opinion that if after 5 years of doing opiates...you still only do 20-30mg of Methadone, and 80mg of OC, that you don't need to change to something to get you off. At that low of a dose, you can get yourself off easier, and save money in the process. I just don't think at that dose you need to be on Suboxone or in MMT.

Listen babe, I'm nothing if not sympathetic to people going through WD. Believe me. But when you're in a forum filled with people, some of whom are in constant chronic pain (like myself) who run out of their shit early for whatever reason and go through REALLY BAD WD's, and then some (possible) troll wanders in and starts asking convoluted questions with dosages that just make no sense, then no, there isn't going to be a lot of sympathy.

I am in pain 24/7. Yes, I like my opies and yes, I would probably taek em even if I weren't in pain. But the shit I have to go through with my asshead pain doc every month, givng me 5 mg percs and FUCKING NEURONTIN to treat nerve root pain ("just to see if it works, come back in 2 weeks") makes me want to punch people in the neck when they whinge about running out of recreational low doses of pills. Especially when they can't make up their mind what or how much they were taking.

My advice? If you can afford to buy that kind of shit on the street, you can afford a suboxone doc. It's better than the clinic and you're clearly not having fun anyway. Suck it up, make the appointment (most take you the same day, they're THAT GREEDY) and go to work and get on with your life. I'd rather be dealing with my bupe doc again than with the pain doc.

I have an appointment for an epidural injection on Friday with the Asshead Pain Doctor, who thinks you should take ONE 5/325 percocet every 12 hours for excruciating back pain, because he gives you Neurontin and flexeril to go with it. I need to find a new doc but my PCP doesn't like referring out of network. Pain in the ass.

I'm surprised how many people think they have to stick with the doctor they have.
All you have to do is stand up to your family doc. and get a referral.
Its simpler than you think.. If you have to go out of network call your insurance and tell them your not getting prpoer care and they will pay for it.
Pretty easy, You just have to do it..

Yeah cuzz Neurontin is such an awesome drug. I was on it for 2 months without any relief. I hate it when doctors will do anything in their power not to prescribe opiates for pain. Including prescibing drugs with way worse side effect profiles that aren't even really indicated for pain. They would rather see you have a heart attack from taking Amitriptyline than give you something that actually works. Pisses me off.

I'm going to see my family doc next week, and I'm going to tell him that 3 yrs ago I use to be on celexa and zanax. But I'm only going to tell him I was only on 15 zanax a month as needed. and see if he will give them to me.

My family doc is out of a clinic and it was all I could do to get her to write me 40 vicoprofins when I first hurt my back, and she wouldn't refill it because she referred me to an orthopedist and a pain dude. Neither of which will write SHIT ALL. I really hate my insurance company today, could ya tell?

yo why dont you just grow your own methadone its so simple you just take one of them ten milli pills you've been chompin down on put a little bit of miracle grow on it bury it in high nutrient potting soil water daily until your methadone plant grows then once the done is ready to harvest in about two weeks you just start giving it 12/12 of artificial light and it buds 20mg methadone pills ive been doin this for years and recomend it to anyone
