That's sorta odd. I just tried to change the title of this thread (to something much shorter), but the original title is still turning up in the forums! Oh well. I really did try...

So nobody remembers Quentin Crisp? Oh no.
Peace,

P.S. I know one or two folks must have seen The Naked Civil Servant on public television? John Hurt was totally brilliant as Quentin Crisp....

I didn not see the naked civil servant, I saw a documentary about him. He reminded me of my grandmom. Only a gay man.

Cool! I was starting to think that nobody remembered, etc.:) (Yeah, Mr. Crisp did sorta look like a little old lady towards the end. I have a signed pic of him, and this dude I know wanted to know how old my "grandma" was. I just laughed at him, and never told him the truth....) Thanks for saving this one for me! Quentin Crisp was a little odd, but I still say he was a totally brilliant (and very kind) dude. And he loved America a lot more than many Americans seem to! :)

He was very intresting, one of my favorite photography teachers in college showed me the video, crisp was an idol of his. It was very cool to see. I know only about him what I saw in the movie, and took a picture standing next to his wax sculpture in Madam Toussands one time. Thats abut it.

So you actually got to see the famous wax sculpture? I hear it looks just like him. :) I met him twice, and got to see his awesome show when he finally came to my big little town, etc. I used to ring him up when I was rather drunk, and he was always very friendly and sweet to me. This was way back in the 1980s. You should see The Naked Civil Servant! It's not too hard to find. They even got a copy of it (book and video) at my public library now. Hey, thanks for helping me to remember a really brave and brilliant man. I'm so glad other folks are finding out about his amazing life too. :)
Peace,

Hey, is there anybody else out there that might have written a letter or two to Mr. Crisp, or actually got to see one of his live shows? Take a peek at one of his books? I'm just curious, etc. ;)

Yeah I know about him. When he died there was a massive obituary in the newspaper... my mum read his book, the naked civil servant... she told me what it was about but at that time I was so in the closet that I didn't have the courage to read it because I was afraid that she'd realise I wasn't straight.
I heard he's awesome. :D

Hey Taylor~thanks for letting me know! Yeah, Mr. Crisp was a pretty awesome dude. That's why I am sorta shocked that more folks don't know about him, etc. His wit is just as sharp as Oscar Wilde's. Although he didn't like to be compared to poor Oscar. I mean, he really didn't like him much. I never was able to figure out the true reason for that....
Peace,

P.S. There's a really good documentary about him: Resident Alien. Did you know that he lived in the same room in NYC for 18 years, and never cleaned it once! He always claimed that the dust doesn't get any worse after the first four years. And only a fool would make his/her bed every single day. But he always kept himself very clean..... he was an odd (but wonderful) person for sure.
