and from my experience, it isn't safe to take an MAOI with ANYTHING, even certain foods.

short acting MAO inhibitors are perfectly safe if used under the proper circumstances, and cause absolutely no bodily harm. in fact, many regular ayahuasca drinkers have been shown to be healthier than most other folks, as well as more well adjusted and mentally stable.

yes, certain foods and medicines require the MAO in our systems to prevent the harm they could potentially do to the body. when these substances are removed from the diet, it is perfectly safe to ingest and MAO inhibiting drug. its not MAO inhibitors that are dangerous, it's MAO inhibitors in conjunction with substances we don't normally think of as dangerous but which have potential for tremendous harm.

and MAO inhibitor without a dangerous substance accompanying it is akin to a car with no movement. that car has the potential to harm you, but when it's sitting still it's perfectly harmless.
