simplest DXM extraction

i recently purchased a 250ml bottle that contains 750ml of DXM HBr.

after reading several extractions, it is appatrent that they are relatively simple, with the most difficult part being aquisition of NaOH.

however, is there any other way of extraction, or at least reducing the intake amount?

Ie: can the DXM be filtered out into a water/alcohol soluble portion, and other portion discarded?

How can a 250mL bottle contain 750mL DXM?

Have you tried dissolving it in ether then separating from hydrocarbons?
