Any snow up on that mountain? If there is, I expect pictures!
They're calling for a light dusting here. South Columbus had pretty bad flooding in places.

We jus sittin' here lookin' out at bare ground, cloudy cold skies, and MUD. Maple trees resting before the final run of sap. Been bustin' ass here tapping and boiling. One and a half gallons of syrup and counting. Day off today, time to start peppers, do laundry, play music.
Hillbilly, tell Marie I dug them jerusalem chokes a couple days ago after the ground thawed a bit, and will get 'em in the mail tomorrow sometime when I make my once every two weeks trip to town. :)

Wow.
It's just really starting and already Virginia and Georgia have 35,000 customers without power...

Sort of makes an all night candle vigil seem like a good idea.

I'll be so glad when it finally warms up a bit here
its cold, went down to 10 last night, and we got a bit of snow. Not much, but enough to foil my plans outside for the day
oh well, I've got 60 tomato plants today that should be transplanted, plus I've still got drywall to finish.

yeah cold here for the next couple nights, was 20 this morning and supposed to be in the teens next two nights and not out of the thirties till Wednesday..
we have the greenhouse FULL of cold crop plants waiting for the soil to warm up so that means i get to make my 3 trips a night down there to keep the wood stove in it going.
YAY..
this should be the last really cold spell here.doesnt mean its spring by any means tho. last frost isnt until late april.

I'd love to have a greenhouse, ever since I was 10 I've been growing anything and everything
I'm trying to do all this in windows in the house, and you can imagine the losses I get from a dog, 2 cats and a kid
out of those 60 I'll be lucky to end up with 20 good ones
I have plans for a hotbed or 2, but its still just a bit early for those yet too

we start all our seeds in the house under florescents then once they are up and strong enough move them to the greenhouse.

I have the floros, but they are sorta 'in use' for other 'projects' at the moment

I got a 400 watt HPS
I wanted to go up to a 1k, but our electric bill is already outrageous from all my computer equipment

thats what we got as well. have been growing tomatoes (as well as other things) all winter under it..will take tons of cuttings off them for planting when spring gets here.

I'd like to get a bit better at taking cuttings
I do quite well with the MJ, but I've yet to be successful with anything else
this might be the year tho....
do you change the light cycle on the tomatoes? or do you just keep it constant throughout? I'm not sure if tomatoes depend on photo period for flowering and fruiting...
....my hot peppers last year started blooming under 18/6 in late april, and then I put em outside so I don't know if they would have continued to bloom and develop peppers or not without lowering the time to 12/12 or so
I also experimented with some dwarf fruit trees under lights this winter and I was quite impressed with the results that just a few CFL's had on them......
