Forum Upgrade Coming!

I want to let you know that in the near future we will upgrade the forums again. It's not such a big upgrade as before, but it will bring in some very nice new features. The big changes are with the Social groups which will become more like forums, with multiple threads, group icons, and more control over group functions.

I've installed the upgrade on another site, and it immediately took off with dozens of groups formed within a day or two, and thousands of posts in the first week. So I'm hoping it will do the same here.

There's also a new upgrade for Photopost that provides a better integration than we've ever had b4. There's also a much better way to add images to posts, where you can choose from the Old Galleries or the Forum Album and whether to post a thumbnail or full-sized image and what to link it to.

There may be some downtime during the upgrade, but I'll warn you in advance.

I hope theres gonna be different skins...the purple is boring...but of course Ill be happy with whatever if its the same...an automatic resize for posted pictures would be nice too...and maybe some auto sig size limiters....oh...and a backscratcher:rolleyes:

any chance of getting the "search this thread" tool activated....it currently only searches the TITLES and not the actual posts...if you dont believe me just go up and "search this thread" for the word "Title"

I'm curious as to whether group pages will be able to be customized some time in the future with backgrounds and such... like with profile pages of site contributors.

Just a thought to be thrown out there.

Yes, auto resize for pics is just one feature in the upgrade.

Multiquotes will be available. We do have a sig size limiter now (but not for sig pics).

Perhaps the new upgrade can deal with the bug that appends the forum code to the end of the URL when the last post icon (http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/buttons/lastpost.gif) is clicked from within a forum- necessitating the user to actually scroll down to the last post... this doesn't happen from "parent" forums when accessing subforum "last posts"... which means this also doesn't happen from the forum index (http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/index.php).
