What badge of honor do you use to pick out an opiate addict?
Let's all name one:

Cig burn in clothes.

swear to god that is SO true. Since I started my opiate use, I've burned holes in my jeans and shorts so many fuckin times its not even funny. Its always from nodding off while smoking a ciggarette.

first of all, thats only for opiate users who bang their shit, and secondly, that's not even worth mentioning because its so obvious. If you IV shit, you're gonna have needle tracks.

Lets think of other things that would be signs of opiate addicts.

Like Does and me said, burn marks due on clothes especially jeans or shorts due to nodding off while smoking ciggs is a great sign.

Weight loss. In the height of my oxy use, I'd rather do a pill than eat and I'd get skinnier.

I know what you mean. Last week I nodded hard after a bunch of oxy and woke up with scratches all over my chin. I had to tell people at work that my cat attacked me.

Oh, and I try and guess if people are on pills while I work(I'm a cashier). Tiny pupils, relaxed demeanor, and glazed eyes are what I look for. So far there seems to be a large number of doped up housewives in my area.

word up to that....i get so itchy when im on opiates. i can usually tell by the constricted pupils and a red nose if someones been taking opiates. the red nose obviously from scratching it.

Well, in a severe case of w/d's one cannot say what I might be swayed to do... I would take darvs if I was coming down bad, tho.

On the other hand, you couldn't pay me to take darvs from you under any other circumstance.

Darvocets wouldn't help anyone that took enough opiates to go into WD's from them. You need a slight tolerance before you will actually get real wd's from opiates, and at that point, all the Darvocets in the world wouldn't effect you, especially for helping with WD's...that is severe pain.

But yes, I would take them if I was wd'ing that bad, but they wouldn't help anything, unless it was placebo, haha.

For sniffers, we usually carry pill crushing tools and some sort of snorting implement with us at all times. Ive been asked many times, "Why is there half of a straw in your wallet?" I've never had a good answer.

the most accurate way to tell is without question their eyes. for opiates- pinpoint pupils and glazed over, glassy look. cocaine/amphetamines- abnormally large, dilated pupils. weed- red and glassy. weeds by far the easiest to detect.

Speaking of the strength of our mind.... No matter how long I go without some opiates, I think it will always take me 30mg of oxycodone to get high.
I think with no tolerance, I would still be angry with 60mg of hydrocodone..

really? i highly doubt that.

have you ever really tested this theory? i.e (go at least 6 months to a year with no opiates?)

hahaha yes. in one of the many pill bottles in my purse I'd usually put in a cellafain from a cigarette pack, a 1/3 of a straw, a razorblade, and maybe a lighter (usually lighter's in my pocket? but that's used to crush up the pill, hence why we have the cellafain. to keep it from flying everywhere!) or I'd keep at least a straw in my pocket, maybe accompanied by a razorblade and cellafain too. but I've seriously gone through about 5 or 6 pairs of jeans before putting them in a wash and found at least one tiny straw in allll of them. along with money I straight up forgot about, hahaha.

this thread is making me want oxy sooo fucking bad. it's been like 2 weeks. fuck suboxone!!!

I gotta say scratch marks and being over talkative cuz I'm always like that since I rarely partake.

And on to this current conversation: as a former and future pill snorter I must agree with having little straws and pill crushing gear. Plus pill bottles with the label torn off and a pencil bag to put it all in. I'd put a piece of paper in it and pens in between the paper and the window so it looked full but was really full of drugs. Man I need insurance so I can go back to doing lines... I might die next era of junkieness but what a ride it shall be =)

my brother had some ritalin patches, he said they didn't do shiiit. well, as a recovering meth addict, what can you expect. I doubt a ritalin patch would do anything to someone who's used to taking 200+++mg of adderall and smoking like a banshee all the damn time.

moral of the story, they suck. ritalin itself sucks, but that's besides the point.

wow... i haven't laughed this hard for quite some time. and can i just say that this thread is the best i've read here in a long time. can we please figure out some way to actually stage the junkie olympics? although i'm thinking Opiate Olympics sounds nicer..

My idea for an event: give each participant an 80mg OC and put them in their parents/grandparents house (somewhere where they don't have access to their crushing/snorting gear) and the first person to crush/snort that OC without their family members noticing wins. Gotta find something to crush it with, something to snort it with, and some way to excuse yourself from dinner in order to find the supplies and snort it without arousing suspicion. We've all done it before, some of us with our grandma's pills (not me, I don't condone stealing from people in pain, plus my grandma refuses to take pills, lol).

yeah i used to live with a doper... it was cool i hooked him up with the fix and he let me crash there. but he was nuts.. he nodded off with a cigar in his hand ... and didnt let go of it. he burnt a hole in his finger pretty much to the bone and had to get it amputated. bummer. yeah .. he ended up in jail and i got kickout of his place. i saw him recently... he was tryin to get off junk and he had chewed off his fingernails. it was gross.
