PEace,

i know i am not a baby boomer in this young body here. but i get a urge and feleing that i was there. a VERY big one. its hard to explain except that i know that someone and some reason i have a mission to teach other and learn from others of the age. i feel as if i was there. i would have to say ither Sound Of Silence, or When I Was Younger. its off the movie 1969. but #1 is Nights in White Satin By the Moody Blues. but Imgagine is my philosophy song.

"Nights In White Satin"

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters I've written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty I'd always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore.

'Cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.

Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going thru
They can understand.

Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be
You will be in the end,

And I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters I've written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty I'd always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore.

'Cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

'Cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

i know its a love song but the feeling and the words. " some try to tell me thoughs they can not defend."

I came upon a child of GOD

He was walking along the way
And I asked him, tell me where are ya goin'
This he told me
I am on my way to Yasgars Farm
Gonna jion in a rock n roll band
Gonna get back to the land
And set my soul free

We are star dust we are golden
We are caught in the devils bargan
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden

I joined along beside him
I have come to lose my smog
And I felt like having part in something turning
And maybe it's the time of the year
Yes, and maybe it's the time of man
I don't know who I am
But life is for learning

We are stardust we are golden
We are caught in the divels bargan
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden

By the time we got to Woodstock
We were half a million strong
And everywhere was a song and a celabration
And I dreamed I saw the bomber jet planes
Riding shotgun in the sky
Turning into butterflys above our nation

We are stardust we are golden
We are caught in the devils bargan
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

I wanted to be a spaceman
That's what I wanted to be
But now that I am a spaceman
Nobody cares about me

Hey mother earth
Won't 'cha bring me back down
Safely to the sea
But 'round and around and around and around
Is all she ever say to me

I wanted to make a good run
I wanted to go to the moon
I knew that it had to be fun
I told 'em to send me real soon
I wanted to be a spaceman
I wanted to be it so bad
But now that I am a spaceman
I'd rather be back on the pad

Hey mother earth
Won't 'cha bring me back down
Safely to the sea
But 'round and around and around and around
Is just a lot of lunacy
(Yeah!)
'Round and around and around and around and around
(So bring me back down)
'Round and around and around and around and around
Safe on the ground

Hey mother earth
Won't 'cha bring me back down
Safely to the sea
But 'round and around and around and around
Is all she ever say to me, yeah

You know I wanted to be a spaceman
That's what I wanted to be
But now that I am a spaceman
Nobody cares about me

Say, hey! You mother earth
You better bring me back down
I've taken just as much as I can
But around and around and around and around
Is the problem of a spaceman

We can be together
Ah you and me
We should be together
We are all outlaws in the eyes of America
In order to survive we steal cheat lie forge fred hide and deal
We are obscene lawless hideous dangerous dirty violent and young
But we should be together
Come on all you people standing around
Our life's too fine to let it die and
We can be together
All your private property is
Target for your enemy
And your enemy is
We

We are forces of chaos and anarchy
Everything they say we are we are
And we are very
Proud of ourselves
Up against the wall
Up against the wall fred (motherfucker)
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls
Come on now together
Get it on together
Everybody together
We should be together
We should be together my friends
We can be together
We will be

We must begin here and now
A new continent of earth and fire
Come on now gettin higher and higher
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls
Won't you try

I'm flying down deserted streets
Wrapped in mother's winding sheets
Asbestos boots on flaming feet
Dreaming of forbidden treats
When uniforms on nighttime beats
Ask me where I'm going and what I eat
I answer them with a voice so sweet

I can't come down, it's plain to see
I can't come down, I've been set free
Who you are and what you do don't make no difference to me

Well someone trying to tell me where it's at
And how I do this and why I do that
With secret smiles like a Cheshire cat
And leather wings like a vampire bat
I fly away to my cold water flat
And eat my way through a bowl of fat
And I say to the man with the funny hat

They say I've begun to lose my grip
My hold on reality is starting to slip
They tell me to get off this trip
They say that it's like a sinking ship
Life's sweet wine's too warm to sip
And if I drink I'll surely flip
I just say as I take a nip

So as I dream of forgotten seas
And granite halls and redwood trees
And of the eye that only sees
Endless mirrors and infinite me's
About the winter's coming freeze
This afterthought I say with ease
To all of you who made your pleas

Supertramp- Easy does it
And if my heart’s had wings,
I’d be the bird that sings,
I’d fly where love isn’t shy
And everyone is willing to try.
And if we had the time,
And time’s so hard to find,
I can’t believe what you say,
Start sending those shadows away,
And if you know who you are,
You are your own superstar,
And only you can shape the movie that you make,
So when the lights disappear;
And only the silence disappears,
And only the silence is near,
Watch yourself; easy does it, easy while you wait.

And if you know who you are,
You are your own superstar
And only you can shape the music that you make.
So when the crowds disappear,
And only the silence is here
Watch yourself, easy does it, easy does it, easy while you wait.

My favorite song of all time is These Days on Greg Allman's Laid Back album. Gives me chills everytime I hear it. As far as a song that represents my life best..I'd have to say Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. I can't begin to explain how many levels this song describes me. Not to mention..it is sung by the most ultimate godess EVER..

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
and I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'till the landslide brought it down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love
-what is love
-can the child within my heart rise above?
-can I sail thru the changin ocean tides?
-can I handle the seasons of my life?
I don't know

Well I've been afraid of changin'
cause I've built my life around you
but times make you bolder
even children get older
and I'm gettin older too

Oh take my love take it down
climb a mountain and turn around
and if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
well the landslide will bring it down
and if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
the landslide will bring it down

Hey Freight Train! Good post.

I had a thing for Donovan's 'Atlantis' and 'Mellow Yellow', Melonie's, 'I Got a Brand New Pair of Rollerskates', and the Airplane's, 'DCBA 25'... But my all time favorite, other than 'House of the Rising Sun', which was the first song I think everyone back then learned to play on guitar, is....

Bob Dylan - Times They Are A Changing

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you'd better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a changing

Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pens
And keep your eyes open, the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon, for the wheel's still in spin
And there's no telling who that it's naming
For the loser now, will be later to win
For the times, they are a changing

Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be he that has stalled
The battle outside is raging
Will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times, they are a changing

Come mothers and fathers from all over this land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand
For the times they are a changing

The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast
The slow one now will later be fast
And the present now will soon be the past
The order is rapidly fading
The first one now will later be last
For the times, they are a changing

Jefferson Airplane, D.C.B.A. 25

The summer had inhaled and held its breath too long
The winter looked the same, as if it never had gone
And through an open window where no curtain hung
I saw you, I saw you comin' back to me

One begins to read between the pages of a book
The shape of sleepy music, and suddenly you're hooked
Through the rain upon the trees, the kisses on the run
I saw you, I saw you comin' back to me

You came to stay and live my way
Scatter my love like leaves in the wind
You always say you won't go away
But I know what it always has been, it always has been

A transparent dream beneath an occasional sigh
Most of the time I just let it go by
Now I wish it hadn't begun
I saw you, yes, I saw you comin' back to me

Strolling the hills overlooking the shore
I realized I've been there before
The shadow in the mist could have been anyone
I saw you, I saw you comin' back to me

Small things like reasons are put in a jar
Whatever happened to wishes wished upon a star?
Was it just something that I made up for fun?
I saw you, I saw you comin' back to me

Ruby I would love to relive it too.. but having the wisdom I have today.. I was 16 when I hit Haight Street.. I lived for the moment with no thought or care of tomorrow and put myself in harms way many many times.. I'm lucky to have made it out alive and with no major brain damage or disease.. the GODDESS must have been workin' overtime to keep my alive.. I try to think I was spared because I had a mission in life..maybe someday I will realize what that mission is and use it to bring peace on earth..

Yep....lots of good songs here...but this has to top the list. Bob was the poet of a generation.

btw, not only did I first learn to play "house of the rising sun" on guitar, but so did my son!

I'm having trouble trying to sleep

I'm counting sheep but running out
As time ticks by, still I try
No rest for crosstops in my mind
On my own, here we go.

My eyes feel like they're gonna bleed
Dried up and bulging out my skull
My mouth is dry, my face is numb
Fucked up and spun out in my room
On my own, here we go.

My mind is set on overdrive
The clock is laughing in my face
A crooked spine, my senses dulled
Passed the point of delerium
On my own, here we go.

Tales of Brave Ulysses.....

You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever,
But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun.

And the colors of the sea blind your eyes with trembling mermaids,
And you touch the distant beaches with tales of brave Ulysses:
How his naked ears were tortured by the sirens sweetly singing,
For the sparkling waves are calling you to kiss their white laced lips.

And you see a girl's brown body dancing through the turquoise,
And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea.
And when your fingers find her, she drowns you in her body,
Carving deep blue ripples in the tissues of your mind.

The tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers,
And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter.

Her name is Aphrodite and she rides a crimson shell,
And you know you cannot leave her for you touched the distant sands
With tales of brave Ulysses; how his naked ears were tortured
By the sirens sweetly singing.

The tiny purple fishes run lauging through your fingers,
And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter.

I LOVE CREAM......

Happy - The Rolling Stones

Well I never kept a dollar past sunset,
It always burned a hole in my pants.
Never made a school mama happy,
Never blew a second chance.
I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love to keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Always took candy from strangers,
Didn't wanna get me no trade.
Never want to be like papa,
Working for the boss ev'ry night and day.
I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love, baby won't ya keep me happy.
Baby, won't ya keep me happy.
Baby, please keep me
I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love to keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Never got a flash out of cocktails,
When I got some flesh off the bone.
Never got a lift out of Lear jets,
When I can fly way back home.
I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love to keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
