I'd say it has no more relevance than the colour of your socks.
But if it helps you - ok.
I don't think it makes an iota of difference to God.

Why is there beauty in the world? So we can cover it up?

Do you wear them all the time? Or just in prayer? What religion do you practice?

Many religions call for head coverings. Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism too, but mostly only when in a temple, same with Sikhs. Also, back in the day, Christians wore head coverings too. From ancient times up until the colonial times, and increasingly less often after that.

To answer the other posters, the point of the head covering is to show respect to their higher power. The counterpart to this in America would be that it's rude to wear a hat (a head covering, yes?) indoors. So it's understandable that you wouldn't see the point of it. Natives from other countries and converts to the above named religions know why they do it. Merely because you don't understand it, please don't belittle the idea.

i think completely concealing musilim head-dress should be allowed, but I dont have any issue with them being hassled over it or treated like a suspect criminal. By covering your face you undermine the honest society. It is the same as a balaclava

How do you think it should be allowed, but you agree with them being hassled over it?

All this sounds a bit like the old nonsense of dressing in a special suit for dinner.

Perhaps the most honest way to be before a higher power would be naked. After all, if you believe in God, then He created these bodies - so why should it offend Him if they're on display? I fail to see the reason unless it has more to do with social engineering than anything spiritual.

i dont expect everyone to get it. you're entitled to your personal opinion, i myself am a bit more liberal and don't believe so much in covering my hair, etc. but some people do and i can understand that.

I do not cover my hair to practice a religion but just to keep the dirt and stuff out of my hair or to keep my head warm. Also, my head gets sunburned if I do not cover it in the summer if I am going to be outside for long periods of time even though I have a very thick head of hair.

If a god exists and if IT created us without headcoverings, why should we wear a headcovering to respect IT? We should all run around naked and refuse to wear clothes of any type to respect IT. I think the whole idea of headcovering is just more religious crap designed by man to get the masses to respect (through fear) the true powers that be, namely the elite that rule this world.
